1⃣1⃣ #ovarian_laziness
or polycystic ovary
What is ovarian laziness and how is it treated?
Ovarian insufficiency is one of the common diseases in women, which often happens despite a history in relatives (sister, mother, aunt, aunt, etc.). The most important symptom of this disease is late menstruation and sometimes every few months. The explanation is that basically, normal menstruation is every 28 to 30 days and this interval can be from every 21 days to 35 days, but if it is longer than this time, it means that from the beginning of one period to the beginning of the next one, it is more than 35 days long. They need to check and see a doctor
Contrary to popular belief, the occurrence of this event at a young age (16-17 years old) is not insignificant, and ovarian hypofunction disease – which we call polycystic ovary in scientific terms – can start from this time. One of the symptoms of this disease is the increase of male hormones or its effects. That is, it is possible that in the blood test, the testosterone hormone, i.e. the male hormone, is high or the hormone level is normal, but only the symptoms of the increase of these hormones appear in the form of excess hair or acne.
An increase in unwanted hair means an increase in hair in certain areas of the body, the most important of which are the upper lip area, chin, on the sternum, around the navel, and on the thighs. In these areas, due to the sensitivity of the hair roots to male hormones, the hairs grow rough, rough and blacker than usual. The explanation is that forearms and legs are not sensitive areas to hormones, and the hairiness in these areas is mostly natural and has nothing to do with hormones.
Other symptoms of this disease are obesity and acne (facial pimples during puberty) at the age of onset of menstruation, which are often associated with late menstruation.
Another laboratory symptom of this syndrome is insulin resistance, which can eventually lead to diabetes.
In this way, patients who suffer from ovarian laziness actually have a tendency to develop diabetes and if they overeat and do not have a proper weight, they will develop diabetes in middle age. Gestational diabetes is also quite possible in these patients. One of the most important consequences of this disease is infertility, which occurs in about 40% of sufferers.
Also, the probability of breast and uterus cancer in these people is higher than normal people. These people are more likely to suffer from high blood pressure and heart disease as well as diabetes in the following years. One of the most important symptoms of this syndrome, which is the reason for its name as polycystic ovary, is the appearance of numerous small cysts in the ovaries in ultrasound.
The size of these cysts is usually below 10 mm (2-9 mm) and there are many in each ovary, and unlike larger and single ovarian cysts, these cysts usually do not disappear within two to three months. In addition, in the ultrasound of these people, the size of the ovaries is usually larger than normal.
To prevent the above complications, the disease must be treated. The aim of the treatment is regular menstruation and regular ovulation of the ovaries. This is done primarily by weight loss (in patients who are overweight) and regular exercise along with appropriate medication.
