21 of Ramadan
1- Martyrdom of Amirul Momineen peace be upon him

Imam al-Muttaqeen, Amir al-Mu’minin, peace be upon him, was martyred on the 21st night of the month of Ramadan, at the same time as the dawn, while 63 years had passed since his blessed age. (1)

In the 20th month of Ramadan, the effects of poison appeared in the blessed feet of Amir al-Mu’minin, peace be upon him, and the blessed feet became swollen. (2)

On the 21st night, the effect of poison on the body of the blessed Amir al-Mu’minin, peace be upon him, was great. The Holy Prophet gathered his children and family and said goodbye to them and said his wills.

That night, he did not eat whatever food and drink was brought to him, and his blessed lips moved in remembrance of God, and sweat poured from his sweet forehead like pearls, and he removed it with his blessed hand.

He said to Imam Mojtaba (peace be upon him):

I bequeath you to your brother Hussain (peace be upon him).

He said to the other children who were not from Fatima Zahra, peace be upon him:

I command you to obey Hasan and Hussain, peace be upon them. Then they said:

May God bless you with good patience and dignity. Tonight, I will leave among you and join my beloved Muhammad Mustafa, peace be upon him, as he promised me.

There was a cry from Ahl al-Bayt.

Then he gave orders to Imam Mujtaba (peace be upon him) about bathing, shroud, prayer and burial place, and he said words about Karbala with Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) and Hazrat Zainab (peace be upon him).

After saying goodbye to everyone, they stretched the blessed hands and feet towards the Qiblah and said:

“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and there is no partner with Him, and I bear witness that Muhammad is his slave and messenger”, and they closed the blessed eyes and blessed heaven for their arrival.

The sound of shouting and crying was heard from his house.

When the people of Kufa heard the news, the whole city started crying and wailing, like the day the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, passed away.

In that night, the horizons of the sky changed and the earth trembled, and the sound of glorification and consecration of angels was heard from the air.

Then they bathed him. After bathing and shrouding, Imam Hassan and Imam Hussain, peace be upon him, took the back of the coffin as the Prophet had said, and moved in front of his own coffin until it landed in a place.

After praying for that Imam, Imam Mojtabi (peace be upon him) dug a part from under the coffin and found a prepared grave inside which was a copper or clay tablet and it was written:

“In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Merciful, this is the grave that Noah dug for Ali Ibn Abi Talib, peace be upon him, the executor and successor of Muhammad, peace be upon him, 700 years before the flood.” (3)

They buried his holy body and according to his will, they hid his holy grave until it became known to everyone during the time of Aaron.

His Holiness’s children from different wives are 28 boys and girls. (4)

Five of them are the children of Hazrat Siddiqa Tahira Fatima Ya Zahra peace be upon them, which include Imam Hasan, Imam Hussain, Zainab Kobri, Umm Kulthum and Hazrat Mohsen peace be upon them, who were attacked by the hypocrites at the time of six months of pregnancy in the house of Amir al-Mu’minin. peace be upon him was martyred.

Hazrat Abbas, peace be upon him, Jafar, Uthman, and Abdullah were martyred in Karbala, whose mother is Umm al-Banin. The rest of Hazrat’s children are from other wives.

When the news of the martyrdom of Amir al-Mu’minin (peace be upon him) reached Ayesha, she was so happy that she recited a poem uncontrollably and then said:

Who killed Ali?

They answered:

Ibn Muljam

said:

May there be dust on his mouth (sarcasm that he did something good). (5)

On the night of the twenty-first month of Ramadan, the guardians of the prophets passed away and Jesus bin Maryam, peace be upon him, was taken to heaven. And on the same night, Prophet Musa bin Imran (peace be upon him) passed away and Yoshua bin Nun (peace be upon him) was martyred. (6)
