The youth unemployment rate in Kurdistan increased twice the country’s average in one year
The Iran Statistics Center unveils the one-year efforts of managers in Kurdistan!
The Statistics Center has published a comprehensive report on the state of the country’s workforce in 1995, according to which, while the unemployment rate of people aged 15-24 in the whole country increased by 3.1% compared to 1994, this increase was 6.2% in Kurdistan and the unemployment rate of this group 12% of the youth in our province is higher than the national average.
According to Tabnak Kurdistan, Iran’s National Statistics Center has recently published the results of the 1995 labor force survey in the country, which shows that the youth unemployment situation in Kurdistan has worsened compared to 1994.
The fact that the youth unemployment situation in Kurdistan worsened in 1995 compared to 1994 is a story in itself, but the fact that the unemployment rate of Kurdistan youth aged 15-24 in one year, considering all the capacity in the province, has increased twice the national average is also a story. is another
A general comparison between the results of labor force statistics in 1995 and 1994 in Kurdistan shows these things; “The unemployment rate of people aged 15 and over has reached 15.2% from 13.3%”; “The unemployment rate of people aged 15-24 has increased from 35% to 41.2%” and “The unemployment rate of people aged 15-29 has increased from 29.2% to 33.4%”.
Comparing another part of the results of the labor force census in 1995 with 1994 in Kurdistan shows the fact that: “the share of employment in the agricultural sector has decreased from 26.6% to 24.4%”; “The share of employment in the industry sector has decreased from 25.9% to 25.1%” and at the same time “the share of employment in the service sector has increased from 47.5% to 50.6%”.
After this brief statistical comparison, it is not bad to have a look at other parts of the 1995 labor force statistics results of the National Statistics Center; Kurdistan is the second province of the country in the unemployment rate of people aged 15-24 after Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, and in the unemployment rate of people aged 15-29, it is the third province of the country after Chaharmahal, Bakhtiari and Kermanshah.
The unemployment rate of women aged 15-24 in Kurdistan is 56% and the unemployment rate of women aged 15-29 in the province is 56.8%; The unemployment rate of women aged 15-24 in the urban areas of Kurdistan is 64.6% and the unemployment rate of women aged 15-29 in the urban areas of the province is 64%.
By reminding you that what is in this article is the information published by the “National Statistics Center of Iran”, that is, the authority of “Preparation, announcement and publication of official statistics of the country” and this institution has no enmity with the government managers in Kurdistan! Several questions arise.
1- Why, since the publication of the report (November 1st), neither the head of the Kurdistan Management and Planning Organization nor any of the managers of the economic team of the government in the province have given an explanation to the people about this report?
2- Why does what is stated in the report have nothing to do with the claims of some senior managers of the province in the past years – who are still in their posts – that the situation of the province has improved?
3- Who should explain to the people of this province why the share of employment in the agricultural sector of Kurdistan with all the capacity in the province should be reduced and added to the share of the service sector in this province?
4- Do the representatives of the people of Kurdistan in the parliament know about the details of this report or even its generalities, and if they are aware, why are they holding their tongues and not saying anything about it? Isn’t it because they are the people’s clients and their main duty after legislation is supervision?
And yet, it is good that the Statistics Center publishes a report from time to time in which a corner of the facts is revealed and the distance between rhetoric and reality is expressed in numbers.
