For Professor, Architect Farhad Ahmadi

For the professor, architect Farhad Ahmadi

Abbas Akhundi, September 13, 2019

Master architect Farhad Ahmadi left the world and rushed to the court of His Holiness Bari, but he left his memories that will shine in the architectural heritage of this land for many years. In these days when various buildings have lost their functions and usefulness and the commodification of architecture has made it meaningless, he was searching for identity and originality. He understood architecture and knew that architecture is a mirror reflecting the changes and beauties of the soul of society. Creative architect and founder understands time and place. Because architecture is the manifestation of time in the sense of historical phenomenon and place in the sense of epistemic system, social order and public arena. Therefore, understanding the architecture of any end of the world requires a deep knowledge of its culture and history. And Farhad Ahmadi was an outstanding professor in this context and he believed that a dynamic culture was never empty of the past and regardless of the future. He was a worthy teacher who was frank and brave in expressing his thoughts and critical views.

The architect does not stop in the past, nor does he forget time and place as modernity. The seal and signature of the architect is by Hoyda. Regardless of whether it is the design of a simple residential building or a complex public building or memorial, the architect leaves his mark. Farhad Ahmadi, whether in the design of simple residential and service buildings in deprived areas of Khorasan province, or in the reconstruction of war zones, or in the design of Iran’s symbolic buildings abroad, or buildings with service and cultural value, the concept of contemporary in historical continuity and compatibility He understood the climate. Therefore, in his work, there was less conflict between the use of modern technology and the familiar spaces of Iranian life. In explaining the design of the experimental theater in Tehran, the Center for Religious Performances says: the presented design, while it is in harmony with contemporary views, creates a space due to the ancient tradition of architecture in this society, which is intertwined with soil and earth, and because of the benefits and characteristics that the soil bed provides for the survival of citizens. Biology is mixed with it in many cases, it has deep roots in the culture of this country.

Now that the great man is no longer among us, for my own part, both as a citizen and as someone who was in government responsibility for a while, I consider it my duty to make his presence felt in the field of Iranian architecture, either as a professor of architecture, or as a Whether as a professional engineer or as someone who was one of the pioneers of revitalizing and recreating valuable architectures of the past or Iranian urban spaces, I should remember and pay tribute to him. Here, I consider it my duty to express my condolences to his respected family, his departed children, his friends and students, as well as to the architectural and engineering community of Iran, and to wish pride and honor to everyone and dear Iran.
