Getting to know the nebulizer

Familiarity with the nebulizer device

Nebulizer is a device to deliver medicine or required respiratory moisture to different parts of the respiratory system through direct inhalation. In the case that the device is used therapeutically, it is very effective in conditions such as bronchitis and severe asthma, and due to the fast effect of the drug, it is very important to prevent the drug from affecting other tissues. Other methods of using medicine such as oral and injectable for respiratory system problems are less effective and used.

The nebulizer works with ultrasonic technology. That is, vibration is used to create suspended particles. In this way, in this device, ultrasonic waves are used to convert water into steam. Sometimes nebulizers work with batteries, so it is better to use alkaline batteries. Wash the medicine compartment carefully and prevent the medicine from drying out in this area.

The device may also include additional parts for adapting the nebulizer for drug therapy with oxygen or for use with a ventilator.

1. Ultrasound transducer or piezoelectric crystal or piezoelectric sensor (ultrasonic magnet):
As you can see in the picture below, it has a coin-like shape. This part is located at the bottom of the water tank, where the high-frequency waves cause mechanical shocks to the liquid molecules and turn them into steam.
2⃣ mask (in some models)
3⃣ Electronic oscillator
4. Power board (to generate DC voltage)
5⃣ Current dividing board
6. Control board
7⃣ Coupling chamber which is usually filled with water
8⃣ Nebulizer drug container:
The place of the medicine is in the device.
9⃣ Heater:
This part of the device may heat the steam coming out of the device in one of the following situations:
A heater is placed inside the storage container.
A heater around the nebulizer series
A heater attached to the outer surface of the storage container
A heater around the liquid tube through which the liquid passes.
Disconnect the sensor:
It gives an alarm if the liquid or medicine runs out
1⃣1⃣ fan:
This part is for exiting and guiding the air.
2⃣1⃣pipes and fittings

#Principles_of_operation #nebulizer_device

To start, a high-frequency electrical voltage is applied to the piezoelectric crystal in the oscillator circuit, and the piezoelectric transducer converts the applied electrical signal into mechanical oscillations. These oscillations create sound waves with a frequency of about 1 to 2 megahertz in the coupling chamber.

Distilled water as a coupling material directs the sound waves to the solution inside the drug chamber. Ultrasound waves cause the formation of bubbles in the liquid, and the liquid particles, when the wave reaches the surface of the liquid, form an eruption and are dispersed in the air in the form of suspended particles near the surface of the liquid.

With the air pressure created by the device’s fan, these particles are transferred to the outside of the chamber. The higher the frequency, the smaller the particle size.
