The production and export of edible insects in Iran was keyed

Come on insect!

44 types of edible insects are used in the world
According to FAO, more than 2 billion people in the world eat insects
Consultant for setting up insect and arthropod breeding unit: The cost of setting up insect breeding is one third of the construction of cattle and poultry farms.

They grow locusts somewhere between Tehran and Qazvin and export them to Arab countries. It seems that their income is so good that they are not ready to become a media issue, and as they say, “it gets too much”. In order to prevent the reporter from entering their breeding farm, some ask for huge amounts to allow them to visit. Suffice it to say that the cultivation of edible insects has a high economic advantage. They do not have to pay a lot of money to feed insects and on the other hand, their reproduction is very high compared to other industrial animals and gives high added value.

Maybe if each of us hears that edible insects are grown in our country, it will be disgusting for us; But for several years now, the breeding of these insects has attracted the attention of some people; Of course, healthy upbringing and in accordance with Sharia principles. Edible insects can be used as food for both humans and animals.

Meanwhile, Thailand, South America, African countries, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, China, Korea, Laos, Japan and Mexico are the main consumers of edible insects. Chinese consumers spend over $100 million a year just eating some kind of ant. In some Mexican restaurants, a butterfly larva press is very expensive. Expensive canned insects are also prepared and exported in some countries such as Mexico and Japan.

According to the adviser for breeding insects and arthropods, when someone thinks of providing food, he quickly builds a chicken farm or a cattle farm; If you can set up insect farms with half or a third of the cost of setting up these items. The speed of spawning and growth of insects is in no way comparable to the reproduction of mammals and birds that provide human food. Meanwhile, the amount of water used to produce one kilo of protein in beef is 1,500 liters, poultry is 360 liters, and crickets is one liter. At the same time, to produce one kilogram of cow protein, the animal must consume 20 kilograms of water, which is 3.3 kilograms in poultry and 1.7 kilograms in crickets. Another issue is the rate of reproduction, for example, a cow gives birth to 4 calves in 6 years, but a cricket reproduces 200 crickets in 6 weeks.

According to the advisor of the head of the veterinary organization, many things may happen in the future in our country related to the cultivation of edible insects; Especially since its export and foreign exchange aspect can be very big for our country.
