Why has Corona not gone to India? – First part
Nasser Karmi
China is the third largest country in the world and has the area of a continent by itself. Therefore, each part of it can establish a different connection with other parts of the world. For example, why half of the world calls it tea and the other half tea can be an indication of why the corona virus went from China to distant countries in other continents, but it did not spread much in its large and populous neighbor, India.
India has more than two thousand kilometers of land border with China. On the other hand, as a rule, two neighboring countries with progressive economies and each with a population of more than one billion two hundred million people should have extensive human relations. India is also known for its low level of public health and vulnerability to epidemics and infectious diseases. However, it is surprising that India has almost been spared from the Corona epidemic and is among the countries that have not yet suffered from a dangerous and uncontrollable epidemic of this disease. The latest statistics of the World Health Organization show that India ranks 30th in the global spread of Corona. So far, the number of positive cases of corona in this country has been announced as 33.
It is interesting to compare this statistic with some very small countries that are thousands of kilometers away from China and have a reputation for favorable levels of welfare and public health. For example, the small country of Austria has three times as many cases of corona as India. The number of corona patients in Norway is four times that of India. The Swiss have been infected with Corona seven times more than Indians. The number of corona patients in Belgium is 30 times that of India. More interestingly, the frozen and distant island of Iceland (which usually cannot be a very busy travel destination in the winter of the Northern Hemisphere) is also ranked higher than India in terms of cases of corona infection. In fact, India is the mystery of Corona. The question that can be asked is why and how Indians have been spared from Corona?
Strictly Indian
The Indian government claims that the early monitoring of the spread of the corona virus and the implementation of very strict regulations at the country’s airports were the factors that saved the country from this deadly epidemic. The evidence shows that India was one of the first countries to test for the corona virus in its airports, and the quarantine of suspected passengers at the country’s airports has been carried out with great care and strictness. Even to ensure more control and care, the task of transferring and returning Indian citizens from the corona affected areas of China was entrusted to the army and air force of this country. The report published in ((livemint.com) says that the army has placed the incoming travelers under protection in quarantine centers.
These airport regulations, which at first seemed not very logical and very strict, were implemented because the Indian government knew that the majority of the country’s population did not have access to medical services and health facilities, which did not even have access to safe and sufficient water to wash their hands. They don’t have and such a widespread virus epidemic can lead to a national disaster in this country. The case of India shows that the spread of Corona in different geographical areas was not necessarily inevitable and could have been contained by implementing emergency regulations, especially in airport traffic. However, a look at the world map and the position of China and India in it, as well as tracking the spread of Corona in different countries, shows that India’s safety against Corona is not only due to the implementation of airport regulations, but also to some extent due to special geographical conditions.
