Parsai:
The concern of more than 140 economics professors in Iranian universities about the election promises of some candidates.
****
In this letter, signed by professors such as Gholam Ali Farjadi, Hossein Raghofer, Jafar Ebadi, Mohammad Satari Far, Zahra Afshari, Iraj Totunchian, Hamid Reza Sherka, Ali Suri, Hassan Taei, Kamil Tayibi, Hossein Abbasinejad, Hamid Kordabcheh, Mehdi Taky and Hossein Sadeghi Tehrani has reached, the promises of distributing money in the society are called mirage promises which cannot be fulfilled considering the strength of the country’s economy and budget and if implemented will have devastating effects on the society and especially on the vulnerable class.
****
From his point of view, the planning and implementation of these promises, apart from the non-creative aspects, are wrong from the economic point of view for several reasons, including the following.
****
In the long run, it is not possible to alleviate poverty through supportive policies of money distribution. The economic history and experiences of countries show that strengthening the national production capacity is the only basic solution to combat poverty.
****
The severe inflationary effects of the implementation of these promises, which will lead to a sudden increase in the exchange rate and a sharp decrease in the value of the national currency, will lead to economic instability and disrupt the process of economic growth and stable employment in the country.
****
Global experiences show that the implementation of such policies, although initially and in a very short period of time, may improve the situation of the poor and the vulnerable class, but after a while, due to the imposition of negative economic effects, the poor and the vulnerable class are the main victims and losers. The prosperous sections of the society will be the final beneficiaries of the implementation of these policies. The experience of Venezuela is the last evidence for this claim. A country that two decades ago was one of the relatively prosperous countries in Latin America, today despite having rich oil resources, it has become one of the poor and unstable countries.
****
The implementation of these promises imposes heavy costs on the country’s budget, which is currently in a critical financial situation with thousands of billions of unfinished projects and debt. In addition, the hidden budget deficit caused by the fulfillment of these promises and its provision through the sale of national assets, including oil, as intergenerational assets, is not compatible with the current and future interests of the country.
****
By implementing these promises, the government will be forced to abandon fiscal and monetary discipline, which is one of the basic requirements for economic growth and increasing employment.
***

As a result of the fulfillment of these promises, people who have real assets become richer due to inflationary conditions and rising prices. On the other hand, workers and employees become poorer by reducing their purchasing power. Therefore, the result of the implementation of such policies can be increasing the class gap.
***

In the end, the unfair game of the candidates who make these promises has been criticized and a warning has been given about the unfortunate fate of the country if this type of view wins.

Friends, broadcast this important message of the country’s economists on all channels and also explain it to others if possible. Rouhani and other candidates are no different from each other and we do not fanatically follow and support anyone and we have no enmity with anyone, but the country is on two paths of progress and war and poverty and we have to vote for Rouhani’s programs to make Iran proud. Failure to do so is an unforgivable crime and cruelty to oneself and future generations.
