British postdoc experience

# Part II

I gained as many pounds as I could. I think it was between 300 and 400 pounds.
I brought some dollars and euros with me.
Because I had paid the house rent, my money was OK.
Just because it might take a while to open a bank account here, if you don’t have anyone, it’s better to bring two months of living expenses with you.

As of yesterday, when I checked, England still does not accept vaccination inside Iran. Now, any type of vaccine.

Here, when the doctor’s registration is finalized (it takes two weeks after taking BRP), you can get a vaccine that only Pfizer gives. The interval between two doses is 8 weeks. You can travel two weeks after the second dose. For example, return to Iran and return to England again (without quarantine). That means you cannot return to Iran for at least the first three months.

If the expenses are online (such as the cost of visa and insurance and purchase of the Corona test on the second and eighth day), it can be done with Wasit websites (Sharif Visa, Irani Kart, Tehran Payment).
But if it’s a bank account (like renting a house), only someone can make it so that England has a bank account. This was the hardest stage for me. Of course, another option is to go to a hotel for 10 days and stay in a hotel for a while to find a house and rent it. Of course, it is an expensive option.

Here I met a friend who does exchange work and converts rials in Iranian bank accounts to pounds in British bank accounts and vice versa. But he also gets his fee.

Using remittances from Iranian exchanges is very risky and I have seen several cases where England had blocked their bank accounts due to the uncertainty of the source of the money.
Preferably do not transfer money from Iran to the British bank account. And vice versa.
The easiest way is to find someone who is sure and wants to transfer money between Iran and UK account.
