On the occasion of Saadi Day

Foroughi says: “Words are like wax in Saadi’s hands. It expresses every meaning in a phrase that cannot be better, more beautiful and more concise than that.”

They say that the goal of wisdom is to understand and recognize beauty, and Saadi is the god of aesthetics in Iranian knowledge. “Beauty is the most delicate and greatest gift of existence and God, and it has different meanings and criteria among different nations” (Tamimdari et al.).

In the 27th story of Golestan, Saadi said:

Sim, the beauty that makes the heart of the owner desire to be in contact with him, as the elders have said: A little beauty is more than a lot of wealth, and they say: A beautiful face is the balm of tired hearts and the key to closed doors.

Witness where the river of respect and dignity can be seen
They are driven to anger by their parents and relatives
I saw peacock feathers in the pages of the books
I said that I appreciate your dignity
He said quietly that everyone who has beauty
They don’t have it anywhere
Because there was agreement and affection in the boy
There is no thought that the father would leave him
He is a gem, don’t be like his shell in the world
In the orphanage, everyone was a customer

In a speech, I heard from Professor Shafii Kodkani who said: Nothing surpasses the experience of beauty. The highest level of human understanding is beauty. It is a beauty that is the conqueror of all world affairs. Dostoevsky said that beauty and aesthetic experience have the last word. Loyalty to the experience of beauty will be defeated.” Hami-Ishan, referring to the aforementioned poem by Saadi, says that “the principle of the theory came from this poem by Saadi [although] it is referred to by the name of Dostoevsky.

In this connection, it is appropriate to mention Aziz Islamic professor Nadushan, who considers Saadi to be the epitome of Iranian wisdom after Islam and says: “In fact, Bostan is wisdom after Islam, and Saadi wants to create a Shahnameh and another wisdom.” In addition, he mentions Ferdowsi in many places in Bostan and remembers the heroes of Shahnameh.
And I will end the speech with a sonnet of his own:

I tried a thousand times to wear the head of love
I did not sit on the fire so as not to boil

I was aware from the beginning not to trust anyone
I have neither patience nor intelligence left for you

I heard a story from your mouth
Other people’s advice is a story to my ears

Don’t you cover up and start a conspiracy again
that I am not going to see you wearing it

I am determined not to come to Sama
that if I reach my feet, they will take me to the door

Come to my peace today by my side tonight
who has not seen sleep from waiting for you shower

You gave me nothing and I’m still on it
That I will not sell a hair of your existence to the world

I will tell you about the wound from your injury
Who will reprimand me so that I will be angry

Don’t tell me to leave you alone through love
What’s the use of talking, I don’t give advice

Going to the Bedouin Way to sit in vain
And if I don’t get what I want, I will try my best
