UK opposition leader: I will reduce the number of immigrants

Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labor Party and the British opposition, said a month before the parliamentary elections that he intended to reduce the number of migrants. The Conservative Party and the ruling party in Britain have also focused on this issue.

Reducing illegal immigration to the UK and the number of migrants are key issues ahead of the election. The election is scheduled for July 4.

While British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his Conservative government have considered a plan to impose immigration restrictions, Labor and opposition leader Keir Starmer has now said he is pursuing a similar plan.
According to a YouGov poll released on Saturday, 18 percent of Britons described the issue as the most important election issue.

The focus of the ruling and opposition parties in Britain on the issue is apparently to attract voter support.

Now, a month before the British parliamentary elections, Keir Starmer said in an interview with the Sun newspaper: “Listen carefully; I will reduce the number of immigrants.”

The Labor leader has not disclosed details of the plan and its implementation, the report said. However, he has indicated that legislation to limit immigration to his country is a top priority for him.

Starmer is said to be planning to impose a ban on foreign workers against employers who violate employment laws and use illegal immigrants.

Labor opposes deportation of refugees to Rwanda

Under a law passed by the British Parliament in late April, the government can deport illegal immigrants to Rwanda.

UK Parliament passes bill to transfer refugees to Rwanda

This comes as the country of origin of the asylum seeker is not of particular importance to the authorities in the deportation process. Rwanda is classified as the third safest country for the UK government.

Now the Labor Party has announced that it intends to repeal the law again if it wins the election. Starmer said in an interview with the newspaper that he wanted to fight smuggling gangs that smuggle illegal immigrants across the English Channel in small boats.
