Professor Ali Asghar Khodadoost was born in Shiraz in 1314. Dr. Khodadoost was a professor of ophthalmology at American universities. He was one of the famous Iranian ophthalmologists in the international field, who was involved in the operation and research of corneal problems in several well-known hospitals.

He finished elementary and high school in Shiraz and started teaching as a teacher in Davari Darab elementary school. In 1333, he participated in the entrance exam of Shiraz Medical School and was accepted with honors among candidates and started studying in this school. He completed the six-year medical course with honors, and after completing a year of ophthalmology residency at Shiraz University’s Namazi Hospital in 1341, he was selected by the government to complete a specialized course in the United States.

After the end of his career, he worked for one year as a trainer and one year as an assistant professor in the ophthalmology department of the same university, and in 1347, despite the offer and request of John Hopkins University, he went to Iran and worked in the ophthalmology department of Shiraz University as a The teacher got busy. One year after his arrival in Shiraz, the head of the ophthalmology department of Johns Hopkins University came to Shiraz and an assistant exchange agreement was signed between the ophthalmology departments of these two universities. Every year one of the assistants of Shiraz Ophthalmology Department was sent to Johns Hopkins University to learn basic knowledge and every year four assistants came to Shiraz alternately from the said university to learn clinical knowledge and practical experience and experience in surgery. This 10-year program was one of the most effective programs to keep the level of education, research and treatment high in Shiraz University, especially the eye department.

From 1347 to 1359, he spent six months as a visiting professor every two years in the eye department of Johns Hopkins University to continue his research programs, and during this time he taught several times in many countries, including China, Turkey, Syria, Oman, and Peru. , Ecuador and Italy were called. Dr. Khodadoost went to America in 1359 and worked as a professor in the eye department of Johns Hopkins University.

In 1361, he was elected as a professor and head of the Ophthalmology Department of Sicily University, and in 1371, he founded the Connecticut Ophthalmology Center in New Haven and worked as its supervisor. Since 1359, he has returned to Iran twice a year and participated in clinical and educational activities in various hospitals in Tehran and Shiraz.
