The story of gasoline prices in Iran

Ehsan Soltani

An American citizen (in a developed country with oil resources) pays 1.55 percent of his monthly salary to fill his gas tank (60 liters).

In order for an Iranian citizen to fill his gas tank with 1.55% of his monthly salary (with gasoline of 3000 Tomans), he must receive 11,600,000 Tomans per month.

In the same way, to fill the gas tank (equivalent to 2% of a Saudi’s salary), an Iranian citizen must receive 8.7 million tomans per month.

Now consider that the price of gasoline is one dollar (26,000 tons), in order to establish a “price-to-income” relationship, it should be equal to an American salary of 100, a Saudi salary of 75, an English salary of 34, and a French salary of 31 million tomans in Iran.

Of course, according to the fatwa of economist engineers based in an industrial university, with a monthly payment of about one million tomans to each household, justice and proper consumption can be established!

Inflationary tax to rob people means that people are paid with (undervalued) rials and the price of everything is calculated with them in dollars.
