Mohsen:
pause!
The movie Mine is the story of a soldier who, while returning from a mission in a bare desert, one of his feet steps on a mine, but he notices it immediately and does not remove his foot from the mine, that is why the mine does not work. For some reason, he cannot neutralize the mine himself, so he has to wait for the help force for several days. If he raises his leg, the mine will immediately explode and his death will be certain. At the same time, excessive fatigue, the heat of the day, the cold of the night, insomnia and constant standing, thirst and hunger have taken him off his feet.
In this day and age; He falls into a semi-conscious state and constantly reviews his past memories.
While reviewing these memories; The viewer notices that before this incident, this soldier has repeatedly stepped on other mines and destroyed them. The mine of an emotional relationship with his wife, the mine of fights and quarrels with his friends and colleagues, the mine of fighting in a cafe with strangers and so on. until it reaches the first mine.
He remembers who planted the first landmine for him and he stepped on it and everything was destroyed. Mini that his father planted for him. A violent, drunk and irresponsible father who considered him and his mother to be the cause of his life’s misery and always harassed them with aggressive behavior.
During all past events and incidents, when he stepped on a mine, an explosion immediately occurred and everything was destroyed.
But this mine in this desert forces him to do something he has never done before, pause.
He pauses for several days until reinforcements arrive and defuse the mine. An exhausting and very difficult pause.
Mine in the desert; It is a metaphor for the mines that he destroyed in his emotional, family, social and professional relationships. This pause of several days in that desert teaches him that if he immediately and hastily to those incidents and events; He did not show the reaction that his father taught him, he experienced a better life.
The film teaches us that this conscious pause is something we desperately need in this hurried life.
quick and automatic reactions to situations and events; It is an unconscious reaction from the activity of traps, complexes and personality shadows.
We react to the events of our lives today as we did in the past.
We react to today’s unknowns based on yesterday’s knowns.
Pausing during actions and reactions can open a horizon of new choices for us.
Let’s try and pause for a while during one of our behaviors or reactions and ask ourselves:
Is this a mine?
Is this mini from the past?
Am I reacting or is my past giving orders?
Do I have another choice or is this the only choice?
