Why did Zarif resign?
Jafar Mohammadi

Just at the time when Iran’s case was being investigated by numerous resolutions of the Security Council, under the seventh chapter of the Charter of Nations, and Iran was considered a threat to world peace and security from the point of view of international law, and precisely at the time when the anti-Iranian sanctions reached their peak and Internal foreign exchange resources were exhausted, the most expert Iranian diplomats in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and nuclear negotiations took over, and Mossadegh started to defend Iran in various world forums.

His truly round-the-clock efforts paid off, the Security Council resolutions against Iran were canceled, the sanctions were removed one by one, foreign investors flocked to Iran, the tourist cities of Iran saw the color of numerous foreign tourists after many years, the fleet Iran’s dilapidated air force was on the path of renovation, prosperity returned to exports, Iran’s economic growth was positive after years, and the exchange rate stabilized.

All of this made the people of Iran happy and hopeful, but the political rivals were worried about these good events and were looking for a way to ground Zarif and the JCPOA. Until, surprisingly, contemporary history reached them: the anti-JCPOA Trump became the president of the United States; An event outside the will of Zarif and even the democrats of America.

After that, there was a spectacular and strange harmony between the concerned and Trump against the JCPOA. Trump tried to isolate Iran in the world, and concerned people tried to attack the internal roots of JCPOA and any dialogue and interaction with the world.
With complete injustice, ungratefulness, and dishonesty, the concerned propaganda apparatus made the JCPOA, which had opened Iran’s breathing space, look like a betrayal, and at the same time, they closed the diplomatic channels so much that Iran’s only legal channel for banking transactions (FATF) They also kept it blocked.

Zarif observed that his great and historic service is not respected, nor is he allowed to use the science of diplomacy as he knows it is for the benefit of the country, even if he is not the foreign minister of Iran, who is a creature to be justified abroad. And cursing inside! So why should it stay? Especially since he basically did not need the post of a minister and on the contrary, it was the diplomatic apparatus of Iran that took credit from him.

The resignation of a prominent symbol of diplomacy can be a warning sign that Iran’s most diplomatic person has realized that there is no will for diplomacy in the country and that the affairs are in the hands of those who do not believe in diplomacy.
