Adelsouzi: the creative end of an Iranian dream

Adelsouzi: the creative end of an Iranian dream
(Mohammed Fadeli – Faculty member of Shahid Beheshti University)
The removal of Adel Ferdosipour from the Nood and Next News program regarding the removal of this program from the conductor of Channel 3 has many analyses, but one view is from the perspective of social capital, public culture and the Iranian dream. To understand Ferdowsipour’s position, let us compare him with some of the most famous TV presenters in the world.
John William Carson: He hosted The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson from 1962 to 1992 (30 years) and was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1987.
Oprah Winfrey: She hosted The Oprah Winfrey Show from 1986 to 2011 (25 years), became North America’s first African-American billionaire, and even won the title of the world’s most influential media woman.
Ellen Degeneres: She has hosted The Ellen Degeneres Show since 2003.
Jeremy Clarkson: He is the most famous host of the hugely popular car show Top Gear, which ran from 2002 to 2015.
David Letterman: He hosted Late Night with David Letterman and Late Show with David Letterman for 33 years from 1982 to 2015 on NBC and CBS.
Jay Leno: He hosted The Tonight Show with Jay Leno from 1992 to 2009 and was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 2014.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal are the most valuable medals given to civilians in the United States. Names of people like Carson, Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres are among the recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Adel Ferdosipour, who has been running Nood program for 19 years since August 23, 1378, is comparable to these famous presenters in terms of duration of duration and running of the program. He has reached tens of millions of viewers in a community of 60-80 million (not the 400 million American community) in the last twenty years. He holds the record of receiving 7 million text messages, and running Iran’s most political sports program about the influence of politicians and the government on the transfer of football clubs. He has deciphered and exposed behind the scenes of football, corruption and many other things.
But perhaps the most important work of Adel Ferdosipour, from the social and cultural point of view, was to create “an Iranian dream”. He presented to the people the dream of having a conversation-oriented television program without censorship, veiling, specialized and clarifying. Nood program was about football, but it also raised the dream of having such programs for politics, economy, society and culture in Iranians. Here it must be said that Adel Ferdosipour does not deserve to be removed, but due to his contribution to public culture, and the creation of dreams, hope and social capital, he deserves to receive a medal and enter the TV Hall of Fame.
The concept of “Pockets of Effectiveness” has emerged in the development literature in the last decade. This concept is used when an effective and efficient public organization emerges in the midst of an ineffective structure and context. Adel Ferdosipour and Nood Program is also significant from this point of view, and it can even be analyzed in the size of a doctoral dissertation.
It is more appropriate that Adel Ferdosipour and his program remain like the famous programs in the history of world televisions, he enters the television hall of fame, continues to build the “Iranian dream” of uncensored and transparent television, and is not the end of a media elite. Adel Suzi, the social capital that is burned, the end of a dream and perhaps the beginning of an illusion.
