A few points about enterotoxemia vaccination:
1. The best age to start the enterotoxemia vaccination protocol is 15-20 days old (when the yolk sac is completely absorbed).
2. Current common vaccines (made by Razi Institute) are specific for sheep
3. Sheep strains include Clostridium perfringens serotypes B, C, D and Clostridium colinum, while ostrich-specific strains are serotypes A and D, so Iranian vaccines do not provide sufficient immunity in ostriches.
4. There is a new type of foreign vaccine that has serotype A. Of course, I haven’t used it yet, but I heard that it has some technical problems, which since I haven’t seen it closely, I prefer not to talk about it for now.
5. Enterotoxemia vaccine must be used with the correct dose to give results. Unfortunately, some of my colleagues treat this vaccine like a drug, that is, they determine the dose of the vaccine based on the weight of the animal, for example, they argue that for a 50 kg sheep, 2.5 cc, then for a 3 kg chicken, for example, 0.2 cc be injected, which is completely wrong
6. The enterotoxemia vaccine must be repeated 2 weeks after the first injection as a booster, which unfortunately is often not followed.
7. The vial of vaccine should be consumed within 48 hours after opening. Otherwise, avoid consuming it because it has become spoiled (or has lost quality) and does not have a suitable antigenic level to create a suitable immunity.
8. It should be noted that just by being vaccinated, the chickens will not become obese and only their resistance to the disease will increase.
9. In general, according to the above, I recommend that you give the enterotoxemia vaccine to the chickens in the correct way.
