for engineer’s day

for engineer’s day

Mohammad Reza Eslami

It may be said that we have three types of #engineers.
One is those who entered this profession because of the name of engineering, or the possibility of employment after graduation. These are not particularly interested in engineering, and have entered for “atmosphere” or career considerations.

The second group is people who have relative mental ability for computational tasks, but to enter the world of engineering, they need to participate in ATS classes (in America) or good high schools (in Japan) or entrance exam classes and reputable non-profit schools. (in Iran) have benefited.

But the third group are people who really have extraordinary mental ability for calculation, analysis and design work. They have sharp minds (in English) and sharpness of vision* (in Arabic).
These are real engineers. Those whose mental muscles are really more trained than others (in computational/analytical tasks) and without doping (Aghajoon) or impotence, are “engineers”.

We are not talking about the first and second groups. But Engineer’s Day is an excuse to talk about the “third group” a little.

Engineers, according to the definition of the third group, are among the most stubborn and bitter people in society. Of course, there is no scientific statistics and academic ranking based on the classification of bitter meat. But the taste of the behavior of the third class is such that whether in Virginia Tech, or in Tokyo Tech, or in third world techs (such as IIT India [India Tech] or Sharif etc.) after a few minutes of conversation, It sits in your mouth.
There is an unpleasant bitterness in talking to such engineers.

Strong minds that are used to breaking the problem into parts, and then solving the parts of the problem. Muscular minds who have found the power to use “differential equations” in engineering problems after getting used to maths.

Minds that are strong, but not beautiful.

You will hardly be bothered when an engineer or researcher researches the effects of blast waves on structures with the most complex dynamic equations of the structure, but when you want to ask him about the most pressing issues in the world in the discussion of explosions, he is completely reluctant. From the explosion, he understands the dynamics of the explosion wave, but he has no desire to follow the human causes of the explosion, the thought of suicide operations, the current issues of the world and so on. does not have Another engineer, you see, is Omari, he works in the field of earthquake engineering, he graduated from MIT, he has no interest in the cultural and social issues of the low quality of structures in Iran. A structure is just a structure and there is no discussion in this regard other than the calculations of the structure.
