The effort of the Kong Municipality under the title “Operations to collect trash and level the land of Ladies’ Park” is another story that is happening in the south of Do Mihrab Mosque.
The unfortunate part of the story is that the governor of Bandarlang, the mayor and the city council were present at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bandarkong Ladies’ Park located in the Castle Park!
The measures taken by the municipality to build a women’s park in the southern part of the mosque are being done while this land is along the land of the Portuguese fort and is considered a part of the historical area of the Portuguese fort of Bandar Kong. The former mayor of Kong bought this land from someone and moved it away. It was covered by a block wall to protect it from destruction and later be explored by archaeologists and turned into a museum site.
Now the question is, knowing this issue, how does the new mayor want to build a park in the ancient site, where there are works under it and it needs to be explored? How did it come from the construction of the museum site to the construction of the park exactly in the ancient site without asking about the cultural heritage?
Isn’t Kong’s historical context a national register, why don’t the governor, MP, cultural heritage and the governor stop this action and don’t want to follow up on the museum site?
At the same time, the new owner of the eastern side of the land has also started a depot block and wants to build the mosque wall by wall. Wasn’t a meeting held earlier for this land and the Technical Council of Cultural Heritage did not oppose this action? How did this person get a construction permit?
According to the report of the Heritage, after the previous debris removal in the southern and eastern sides of the mosque, they realized that there are a series of buildings under the soil, which came out through excavation.
Now a part of the mosque that is under the ground goes to the heart of this private property and since the previous owner did not intend to build, there was no problem, but now the new owner intends to build, and despite the opposition of the heritage, he has obtained a construction permit.
Now, even if it is an impossible assumption that there were no works under this property, how is it that wall to wall historical works are being built without the slightest gap and cramped.
Didn’t the municipality and heritage plan to explore the eastern side after the southern side? Wasn’t this entire area supposed to be a museum site? What exactly is the new mayor of Kong doing?
Why was a construction permit issued instead of buying the east side from the owner (whose rights are not lost) and implementing the museum site plan? Why don’t Hormozgan governor and Kong governor get into the issue and demand to stop both actions, free the eastern side and continue the plan to create the museum site?!!!
According to experts, the historical two-story mosque of Bandar Kong probably dates back to the Qajar period.
A mosque that had 2 altars on 2 floors during its use, which tells about the high population of Bandar Kong and its prosperity in the past.
It is worth considering that less than a year has passed since the second phase of the restoration of this building. In this phase, restoration, emergency protection, debris removal, cleaning, sewing and plastering of the damaged parts and its walls were spent with a credit amounting to 100 million Tomans from the national funds in October 1401.
