The fourth part
Elections of the sixth council of Shahrood city
from the beginning to the end; Everything you need to know
Elected members of the Sixth Council (Ahmadi Coalition)
Author: Ali Reza Eslami
From the day after the confirmation of the qualifications, Ahmadi’s behavior with the people around him changed, there were no longer the usual precautions to prevent them from getting out of his hands and scattering around him. He wanted to make a list that would make him the mayor of Shahrood. A list that has the necessary obedience from him. For this purpose, he started to remove those who were doing his propaganda activities under their shelter until yesterday and filled their place with some people who say yes. Those who, according to him, should trust and believe in him. He prepared forms to get a commitment from people to always remain loyal to him, even jokingly or seriously, rumors were heard that he also asked for checks and promissory notes from those who applied to be on his list, which along with other ambiguities were never true. The author was not proven to be wrong. Anyway, Ahmadi entered the election contest with the list he wanted, in addition to himself and Hamida Mohebi; Mr. Ghanbarian, Ershad, Yunsian, Sokhnipour and Taghizadeh were also present, who, apart from the two people who were close to Ali Asghar Khani, were considered the representatives of Shahrood. Others were completely unknown to the people of Shahrood. The common feature of this list was the high financial ability of its members, which allowed them to spend a lot on advertising.
The electoral headquarters of Ahmadi and his coalition started working with the hope of getting all the seats of the city council and his sitting on the seat of the Shahrood municipality. The media artillery affiliated with Ahmadi and Ali Asghar Khani, which did not harm the municipality and the city council during the year leading up to the elections; It started with full fire. Despite the explicitness of the law on election campaigns, his photos and banners were put up all over the city and continued with minimal hindrance until the last days of campaigning. Some speculate that the cost of Ahmadi’s campaign is over one billion tomans, which cannot be verified due to the lack of transparency in election expenses and sources.
This careful publicity and media maneuver, which focused more on Ahmadi personally, relying on the popularity of the former mayor of Shahrood, brought him incredible votes. In the history of Shahrood elections, only once a candidate was able to pass the number of 20,000 votes. Ahmadi also broke the record of Ramzan Bagheri, the former mayor of Shahrood, and with the support of nearly 27,000 votes, he went to the Shahrood city parliament. But this success did not come to his list. Among the members of his list, Hamida Mohebi got into the council with less than 8,000 votes, which is less than the votes of her previous term. Hamid Reza Qanbarian, the former legal deputy of Shahrood Municipality, who, like Mohebi, had the support of Ali Asghar Khani, went to the 6th Council of Shahrood City with less than 6,000 votes. The number of votes obtained by these two people, considering their personal potential, is considered the same as their voting floor, and there is not much effect of Ahmadi’s popularity and his 27 thousand votes. Anyway, the other members of this list did not get much results from being with Ahmadi. So far, Ahmadi has won only 3 seats out of 7 council seats and sees little chance to achieve his dream, which is to hold the seat of Shahrood Municipality. But Ali Asghar Khani, who claims that the high vote for Ahmadi was obtained because of his support, especially in the stages of qualification approval and advertising, does not give up so easily.
