This was not Shajarian’s right

Mustafa Danandeh

Death has no choice. The pain is incurable. Doctors know the way not to be born, but they don’t know the way to stay in the world, and maybe no one will be aware of this way until the end of time.

We knew that sooner or later death would take away Mohammadreza Shajarian, who was the rightful voice of Iran, but death in the age of Corona was not the right of Khosrow Khoban. Now is a good time to whisper together this poem by Arif Qazvini, which was beautifully performed by Shajarian: “What a misbehavior; O wheel / what a bad thing you do; O wheel

Death in the age of Corona is very strange. There are relatives and acquaintances in every corner of the city, but you will be buried strangely and worse than that, you will be buried unjustly so that others do not get corona. The family cries in the midst of their loneliness and burns with memories.

This was not Shajarian’s right; As it was not his right to break the fast of Ramadan without his Lord. He had no right to be banned because of biased tastes in a media that carries a national name but is the most favorable media in Iran.

This was not Shajarian’s right

Of course, they mistakenly thought that Shajarian’s voice would be forgotten by not playing. Iran’s singing master remained in the minds of Iranians. What kind of Iranians who started working on their own and, thanks to the progress of science, made Rabbi Shajarian a guest at their iftar tables, without needing the favor of radio and television.

Even now, when it rains, just like the hours when the news of Shajarian’s death spread, people say, “Let it rain, let it rain!” Cry with my heart, bleed!! In the dark night like Zolf yaar…! They whisper and how beautiful it was that on the night of his departure it rained and people heard the sobs of the sky.

The master of traditional music delivered an aghazade to his people. At a time when noblemen have a thousand margins and a thousand words behind them. We miss Shajarian’s voice, but we are happy with Homayun’s voice. A voice that is not less than a father’s and is quite endearing.

Maybe today is a good time for some artists to review the life of Shajarian. Let them see how he lived so that when people heard the news of his departure, they grumbled and sighed and said under their breath, “It’s a shame.”

Today is a good time for them to know and understand that the only way to stay in people’s hearts is not to work hard and be seen. We don’t need to be on TV at any cost. It is possible that he was like Shajarian and was not seen on television, but he was still dear to the hearts of the Iranian people.

It could be Shajarian, but he involved all generations of Iran. Today, the 80s also have sadness in their hearts and say: “My heart is gone and so is my life/I feel heartless and soulless.”

Shajarian deserved a pleasant farewell, but what can he do? Corona has changed our lifestyle. We should say goodbye to him from a distance and say: “Goodbye; O poem of bright nights”

I hope we will meet you soon. Let’s pay attention to Ferdowsi and the Third Brotherhood and stand on top of Shajarian’s grave and release our voices so that the birds of dawn cry.
