About the book of Pirashhari Sustainable Development
A look at the development process of various societies and environments indicates its unstable process, and as it can be seen, the outlook ahead of it also indicates the same process; Although its scope, intensity and weakness varies among different societies. Of course, the concerns about sustainability are not only related to today’s societies, but what doubles the attention to it in the current millennium is the increase in the trend of instability in urban and peri-urban areas, which have increased in number and changed in quality. Many of these issues and challenges are related to the decision-making process, the model of managing affairs, and how the actors interact. Having said that, in this article, the necessity of decent governance (urban/peri-urban) is mentioned as a necessity of sustainable development (urban/peri-urban).
Today, more than ever, it is necessary to insist on the belief that development without sustainability and sustainability without development will not be possible, therefore knowing the factors that enable the movement towards sustainability or lead an environment towards instability, for example One of the tasks of urban planners has become a face. Also, considering that the fate of urban and metropolitan areas are tied together with peri-urban areas, the concerns of sustainable development and pursuing its goals in peri-urban areas have become one of the major responsibilities of urban planners. The topic that prompted the authors of this article to write a book about it. However, the issue of water and land is among the factors that are closely related to the sustainable/unsustainable development of peri-urban areas, and perhaps in the pioneering movement that has taken place, an attempt has been made to introduce the concepts of proper governance of water and proper governance of land as a requirement and prerequisite for sustainable development.
