Afghan immigrants in Iran and our responsibility in the time of corona virus
Post-corona world (4)
Abbas Akhundi – April 28, 2018
The difficult living situation in the time of Corona is not only for Iranians, but also includes Afghan immigrants. Considering the closure of businesses and the spread of unemployment due to the spread of the Corona virus, it can be said that, without a doubt, Afghans in Iran are among the populations that are definitely suffering from poverty. It should be seen how Iranian society behaves with this human phenomenon in difficult times. Can we be completely humane and equal from the position of adhering to human rights? And as we seek the right to life for ourselves, should we also be for them?
Are we ready to make no difference between ourselves and our Afghan brothers and sisters and follow this verse from the Holy Qur’an: “And those who come to the house and believe before them love those who migrate to them and do not find them.” In their chests, there is a need for what they have done, and they affect themselves, even if they are with them. A special feature of those who want their soul, then they are the successful ones; And [also] those who settled in [Madinah] before [the immigrants] and believed; They love everyone who migrated to them; And they do not find envy in their hearts for what has been given to them; And even though there is [urgent] need in themselves, they put them before themselves. And whoever remained safe from his own exhaustion, they are the ones who will be saved. (59:9).
With the approach of Iranian civilization, can we draw a common destiny for ourselves and Afghans, whether in Iran, Afghanistan or other nations located in this area of civilization? Paying attention to the idea of Iran does not leave us any doubt in adopting the policy of equality and brotherhood. Anyway, morally, we are at a difficult crossroads. But nations and people are tested in these dilemmas. Of course, if it is prudent, a part of this cost can be financed from international organizations or the Organization of Islamic Countries. It is important that the issue of Afghans, like other Iranian workers, be included in the agenda of the government.
Today, I saw that Mr. Arash Nasr Esfahani paid attention to the problem of Afghan immigrants in the telegram channel “Social Analysis of Corona Outbreak” which was formed by the Iranian Sociological Association. I personally thank him for this attention and this warning to the society. If you want to read the text of his note, refer to the following address. We post-tahrir. A number of friends objected to the use of the word Afghani. Therefore, I corrected the title.
