The bitter miracle of numbers
#reading news
Sometimes numbers speak miraculously “shortly”. Comprehensive speech, without the need for dozens of lines of articles and notes.
In this recent story of the Houthi attack on the Saudi oil refinery, “one number” was shocking in the text of the #news. The sentence containing that number is as follows:
“Abd al-Aziz bin Salman, the Saudi oil minister, confirmed that yesterday’s attacks reduced the country’s oil production by half, i.e. 5.7 million barrels per day.”
What does this mean?! Does that mean that Saudi Arabia produces about eleven million four hundred thousand barrels of oil every day?
Saudi Arabia, a country with less than “half the population of Iran”, produces and exports more oil than “eleven times Iran” every day?
An oil-rich country named Iran with eighty million families will sell “less than one million barrels” and an oil-rich country named Saudi Arabia with “thirty-three million people” will sell more than eleven times of Iran? Who specified this formula?
What is going on in this world?
Of course, we Iranians have/have many problems, but there is one “problem” here, and that is that the western standards of double behavior are so “gross”. Is Mr. Mohammad bin Salman more acceptable in today’s concepts?
The share of a Saudi citizen in the global oil market is about 26 times that of an Iranian citizen. So easily accepted?
Once upon a time, Western elders and politicians did not leave Saddam Hussain Abdul Majid Tikriti and the Arab Baath Party.
And later he did as we know. He did it to Halabja and Kuwait so that they could not see the limits of cruelty. Even today, eleven million barrels of oil and a tsunami of cash are sent to the bank accounts of His Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the children of Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman bin Faisal Saudi, and at the same time, he is happy that the policy of maximum pressure on the economy has been considered for Iran. The pressure that spreads around poverty in the cities of the country with 80 million people. The order and mathematics of the time, of course, cannot pass by these numbers and gross errors without consequences.
Consequences.
this too shall pass?

PS:
Iran’s oil sales are now less than one million barrels of oil per day. In June, a Reuters report about the drop in Iran’s oil exports to 300,000 barrels per day was also published.
Out of the 33 million people of Saudi Arabia, only 16 million of them are citizens of this country and the rest are foreigners!
