Comparing #Canada with #Australia, which country is better?
In recent years, Canada and Australia have become popular countries for immigration and even short-term travel, and choosing between the two requires careful consideration of people’s priorities regarding the living conditions of these two countries.
Both Canada and Australia are very vast and therefore it is not possible to compare all their cities in one article. For this reason, we decided to compare the two main cities of Australia and Canada:
Sydney and Toronto means of transportation
Toronto’s transportation system includes subways, trains, buses, and trams (street transportation that is electric and moves on rails) that have a common ticket system. It doesn’t matter what vehicle you use or where you go. You can travel anywhere in the city by buying a one-way ticket worth about 3 dollars. In our opinion, the best way of transportation in Toronto is to use the subway line, because the underground train stations are a good shelter to escape from the cold of this city!
In contrast, Sydney does not use the subway for transportation, and public transportation only includes trains, buses, and ferries. The cost of traveling in Sydney depends on the length of the journey and is between 3 and 15 dollars.
Rent a house in Australia and Canada
Undoubtedly, the cost of renting a house is one of the most important factors for an immigrant family, and unfortunately, both Toronto and Sydney are among the most expensive cities in this regard. In general, the amount of house rent depends on many factors such as the proximity of the house to the city center (CBD) and for this reason, people who are looking for a lower cost of rent move to neighborhoods further from the city center. Of course, a more common solution is to have a roommate and share the rent between several people.
Canadian and Australian economy
Current job opportunities: Canada’s unemployment rate in August was 10.9% and Australia’s was 7.5%.
Also, according to the International Monetary Fund, Canada’s unemployment rate in December 2020 is expected to be 7.474 percent. This figure was 5.667% in December 2019. Canada’s unemployment rate is expected to be 7.214% in December 2021. (published on April 22, 2020)
According to the International Monetary Fund, Australia’s unemployment rate in December 2020 is expected to be 6.621 percent. It was 5.183% in December 2019. Australia’s December 2021 unemployment rate is expected to be 8.924%. The data is updated annually and classified in CEIC “Based on the World Trend Plus forecast – IMF.WEO table: unemployment rate” (published on April 28, 2020).
Both Canada and Australia have a relatively low unemployment rate and a strong economy, and usually people who are skilled in their field of work and also have a relative command of the English language will find their desired job after a while. Meanwhile, in both Australia and Canada, technical jobs such as plumbers, carpenters, electricians, etc. are very desirable and lucrative, and usually people who specialize in this field do not stay unemployed for a long time. Many people who do not succeed in finding a specialized job, due to the high cost of living, turn to various jobs such as selling and working in restaurants.
In terms of income levels, the minimum wage in Australia is significantly higher than in Canada
