Comparison of cow and ostrich

Comparison of cow and ostrich:

Ostrich meat is red in color and has less cholesterol and calories than chicken and fish. According to the report of the United States Department of Agriculture, every 3 ounces of ostrich meat contains 58 mg of cholesterol, 2% fat, and only 114 calories. In all three cases, it is equal to or less than chicken meat, and for this reason, this type of meat is very popular among European and American consumers.

An ostrich produces 40 to 60 chicks per year, while the production of cattle is one head per year. Half an acre of land is needed to raise a pair of fully mature ostriches, which means about one-fifth of the land needed to raise cattle.

The ostrich lives up to 50, 60 or 70 years and during this period it reproduces for at least 40 years, while the cow stops reproducing at the age of 10 to 11 years.

Meat production in ostriches is nearly 4 times that of beef. The cow’s pregnancy period is 9 months, while the egg-to-chicken period is 42 days. The strength of ostrich leather is 3 times the strength of cow leather. The leather obtained from each ostrich is 13 to 20 square feet.

About 30 ostriches are produced from a pair of ostriches every year, and their weight is about 90 to 110 kilograms in one year.

The annual income of an ostrich raised in suitable conditions is about 1000 dollars. The amount of 1 to 2 kilograms of alfalfa is enough for the daily feeding of an adult ostrich. Ostriches start laying eggs at the age of 18 to 24 months.

Another characteristic of ostrich meat is that its amount of protein is high like beef, but its amount of calories and carbohydrates is less, its amount of fat and cholesterol is less than chicken meat, and it is similar to beef in terms of quality and taste.
