Corona Corona; A crisis that leads to a humanitarian disaster

coronavirus; A crisis that leads to a human disaster!

It was just a few days ago that in the editorial board of Immunology Today, we decided to say less about Corona and at least not to make our audience bitter by publishing negative news. After the awareness period we did, we decided to go to the Nowruz programs that we had planned for months before and make the home quarantine period a little more bearable with various programs such as iTALK, various webinars, etc.

But just a few hours before the end of 2018, and despite the emphasis of the authorities, institutions and even social networks, to stay at home, avoid unnecessary traffic in the city and minimize person-to-person contact to control the spread of the dangerous and deadly virus. Corona, today the broadcast of pictures and news about the high traffic volume of cars at the exit of some cities, the traffic on the roads leading to the north of the country, as well as the abnormal crowding of some parts of the cities caused us deep discomfort and concern.

We do not intend to say that the people or the government are the main culprits of this incident. The government as it is, with lack of transparency in times of crisis, with imprudence in making necessary decisions to quarantine infected cities at the beginning of the spread of the virus, with not having crisis management and also not having the necessary financial resources to support people during quarantine, and from On the other side of the radio and television, by broadcasting unfortunate interviews and trying to make the situation appear normal, each of them has a big contribution in creating this tragedy.

But on the other side of this coin, there are people. Undoubtedly, the factors mentioned above, together with the economic pressures that today more than ever have made our people worn out, tired and annoyed like T cells, play a significant role in not complying with home quarantine. But today and in these critical days, and while the official statistics show that more than seventeen thousand people are infected, there are still many people who apparently do not understand the depth of the disaster.

We wrote to say that Corona is going from a crisis to a human disaster. We wrote to say that the situation is more critical than what you hear on the radio. Healthcare workers lose their energy over time. With the further spread of patients, the lack of health facilities and hospitals creates irreparable problems for us. Curbing the corona virus can only be achieved with the solidarity and cooperation of all people. This year’s Nowruz is more bitter than ever under the heavy shadow of Corona. But by not following the health recommendations, and by losing our lives and our loved ones, Nowruz will be bitter forever.

Please stay home and ask everyone who is traveling to stay home. Don’t forget that Corona has reached our doorstep today. Today, all people are on the front line of the fight against Corona.

Please stay at home.
