“Distraction and ways to increase concentration”
Our mind tends to constantly work on a subject, now if it is supposed to keep its processing on a certain subject for a certain time, it is called concentration. But many times when we study, we realize that our eyes are just out of habit passing over a series of words and lines quickly without paying attention, or that we stare at a word and get immersed in our own thoughts, which is a sign of distraction and lack of concentration
Distraction is a completely natural phenomenon, but in order to have a dynamic and fruitful study, we must increase our accuracy and concentration.
Ways to increase focus:
1- The first and most important thing that increases concentration is to have motivation and interest in the topic under study, for example, when reading a newspaper, even if we find an interesting article in a very crowded place, we get absorbed in reading it without noticing the noise of the people around us.
2- Preparing a suitable place (table and chair), clean and tidy, away from noise
3- Starting to study immediately after sitting at the desk, instead of sitting at the desk, we should first check our cell phones, use snacks, and study from the moment we sit at the desk until we know how to read behind the desk. For studying, of course, in order to warm up our minds, it is better to review the material we have read before for 10-15 minutes, then read the rest of the article.
4- Taking notes and supplementing, writing makes us pay attention to the lesson and pull out the most important points from the large amount of material, and the next time we want to review those materials, our work will be easier.
5- Fast reading: Many people think that the more they count and study word by word, the higher their learning will be, but it is completely the opposite, because the mind first deals with concepts, not with words, secondly, the faster we study, the higher the speed of entering information and There is more data in our mind, and the mind has no other way in front of us, and our concentration is more
6- Rest and proper nutrition, which I call time and energy management, which makes studying become monotonous and boring, is energy recovery.
7- When we have mental and intellectual preoccupation, if it is mild and controllable, write that issue and mental preoccupation on paper and postpone it. If it is very acute, it is better to leave the study table, walk for a few minutes, then return to our studies when the situation improves.
8- To condition the system of question and answer, the system of our own mind. That is, after we have finished reading the topic, we should ask our mind to tell it to us in different ways, “the operation of recovering information from the brain”.
9- Having a time schedule means to consider an approximate time for the volume of material that we want to study and try to read the material in that time and not allow our mind to fuel scattered and useless thoughts.
Good luck.
