I have a PhD in Environmental Civil Engineering. At first, I was only looking for Post Doc, and that was only for America. After a few months, I found it difficult, so I started looking for positions in Europe and Canada. I found a relevant position in Europe, but I was rejected because my doctorate was not ready. After some consultation, the thought of a second doctorate came to my mind. I got the first interview from Canada to change my major to chemical and materials engineering. But the teacher was not justified. After that, I went to America again. I saw on the site that there is a position for a professor. I emailed him and he said, “Can you self-fund a postdoc?” At first I said ok, then I saw that we will only last a few months, so I said no, but I will come for another doctorate if you fund me. In short, he suggested to change his field and we agreed to Skype. After an hour, he gave an interview and said to apply. I applied and gave my transcripts, the senior university put them in an envelope and mailed them. Then I sent a scan of my documents, which included GRA and language certificate, to the round office to see if the IELTS certificate would be accepted due to the expiration of the GRA and being a generalist, or if I should take the test again to see if it would be accepted and approved. The score of both degrees was higher than the maximum score of the university, and the professor ordered it, maybe because of that. Then I applied and sent the sop and paid the fee and the Rickam professors sent it themselves with the link given by the university. I must say that according to my teacher’s suggestion, I applied to two colleges because the teacher said that he might be able to get funding from one of them. Then the acceptance letter of the first faculty came, which was the faculty of my professor, but it said that the professor should give the fund, but the professor said that because it is a renewed doctorate, the university does not give the fund. In short, I had said from the beginning that I was interested in remote research, he said, so write this chapter of the book for me so that I can see what happens. The professor specified my fund, but more than what was written on the university website. Now I want to apply for a visa and I hope they will grant it.
A few points:
don’t call Be realistic and email and apply based on your abilities and resume. Don’t forget to remind the teacher so that he doesn’t get nervous. Try and not be called again.
