Dr. Ebrahim Bastani Parisi, a historian and writer, tells an interesting and strange story from the language of history professor Fereydoun Bahmanyar.

When I finished my studies in Farang, I was young, well-groomed and fresh, and on my return to Iran, I once made a trip to Shiraz to visit some acquaintances, which was the right time to travel.
Friends and acquaintances warmed to me, and several days passed by partying and visiting. Because I was working in Tehran, I bought a plane ticket to come to Tehran from Shiraz.

In those days, there was still no regular airline service in Iranian cities, and only some planes came from Abadan to Shiraz and from Shiraz to Tehran one day a week, on Thursdays. I bought a ticket and went to the airport. My relatives insisted that I stay another week so that we can go around the city. But I did not accept and they followed me to the airport.

The plane was full of passengers and of course the air service had not yet increased. I sat on the plane seat and fastened my seat belt. All the seats were full. At the same time, I noticed that a tall and handsome man entered the plane door and said to the passengers while standing:
“Gentlemen, is there anyone who is not in a hurry to travel to Tehran and wants to stay in Shiraz for a week and be my guest in a Shiraz hotel?”

The request was strange and of course no one answered. The man repeated again:
“Gentlemen! I am in the agricultural work of the country, and on Saturday we have an important meeting to get rid of pests and locusts with a large Dutch delegation in Tehran, and you know that you cannot reach Tehran by car until Saturday. If there is someone who is not in a hurry to travel to Tehran, he will give me his place and come to Tehran on the next week’s plane, he will be my guest this whole week.”

It turned out that the engineer had gone to the cities of Fars to get rid of pests, and now he made a lot of effort to get to Shiraz by the only plane that was going to Tehran, but now he has no place. Of course, it was possible to drop off a passenger and pick him up through unusual ways and with the help of police forces, but the engineer himself did not want to and chose this way as I said.

I stood up and said, “Come on. Expenses are not necessary. Because I am the guest of my relatives in Shiraz and they have insisted that I not go this week. But I separated from them. Now I will return and next week I will go to Tehran.”

In this way, I got off and returned to Shiraz with those who came to see me, and that engineer sat in my place and left for Tehran. This plane, which was carrying that engineer, never reached Tehran, and its engine failed and crashed near Saveh, and all those passengers were killed, and that high-ranking engineer, who became a passenger on that plane at his insistence and held a high position in the Ministry of Agriculture, His name was “Karim Sai”; The founder of “Sai Park” and plantain trees on Valiasr street in Tehran! He was also the founder of the organization of forests, pastures and watershed management and also the founder of the field of forestry in the university.
