Health system employees’ expectations from the elected president
Ashkan Khurshidvand
Health trade union activist and head of Durood nursing system
The presence of a person from the health and treatment body for the first time at the head of the executive branch has raised the level of expectations of health workers and activists from them, and in a word, fundamental changes are expected to occur in the health field.
In the health system, like any other organization, human capital is one of the main factors of success, and it requires a special look at the employees of this field. Especially now that we are facing the crisis of desertion and migration of this group.
Lack of motivation due to the lack of job security, discrimination and most importantly financial and livelihood issues have caused that there is no competition for longevity and service among the graduates of this field.
The huge difference between the income of health workers and the workers of other ministries has caused widespread dissatisfaction to the point that even the elected president mentioned it during the election debates. It is a fact that a Snap driver earns more than a nurse!!
Strengthening the infrastructure and updating the healthcare service delivery system are one of the main factors in improving the health of society, but the fact is that this will not be possible without efficient human resources. Efficient manpower will not be created without creating motivation through welfare and proper livelihood.
The health and treatment staff showed their commitment in the Covid crisis, but they were not paid as they should have been. Even some people believed that increasing the salaries of health workers is injustice!!
In any case, our main expectation from the president-elect is to pay special attention to the human capital in the field of health, from hiring and changing the situation to the well-being and livelihood of employees.
