How and steps to disinfect ostrich eggs for hatching

How and steps to disinfect ostrich eggs for hatching:

1) Egg collection: After drying the eggs after laying, the sooner the eggs are collected from the pen and cleaned and disinfected, the better.

2) Cleaning the egg: First, remove the waste and dirt stuck to the egg using a knife, then remove the remaining dirt using a squeegee. In all these steps, the shell should not be damaged.

3) Gassing and disinfection: calculate the volume of the smoke room (length x width x height), mix 40 cc of formalin with 20 grams of potassium permanganate for each cubic meter of room space. Eggs should be exposed to smoke for 20 minutes. After this period, the smoke in the room is discharged through the ventilator and the eggs are taken out and transferred to the egg storage room. The best time to store eggs before hatching is 3-5 days at a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius.
Note: In the case of eggs that are more than 30% soiled with mud and feces and are not cleaned with a squeegee, washing is inevitable. For washing, use lukewarm water containing Savlon disinfectant. But it should be noted that the probability of hatching of washed eggs is less.
