Humble cry, cowardly defeat

Humble cry, cowardly defeat

Sajjad Salek

It was bitter. very bitter I am talking about the deliberate defeat of the Iranian wrestler against the Russian opponent. Our pride, majesty and character were crushed in those damned seconds when Alireza Karimi was dumbfounded, the wick was twisted lest he hit an Israeli opponent in the next round and be safe from that ominous voice that still echoes in our ears: #باید_بابازی

Let’s remember what was the principle and philosophy of not competing with Israeli participants? In order to send a message to the world, we do not recognize this illegitimate regime. As a result, in the first years, we were proud to meet an Israeli in international forums and withdraw. What if we wanted a championship medal when we were supposed to wear a medal for supporting the oppressed?

Gradually, the sports associations became sensitive to our work and considered heavy exclusions. It got to the point where we pulled out, but we couldn’t say why we pulled out. As a result, we put down the flag of anti-arrogance and begged for the doctor’s prescription and unjustly used illness as an excuse.

The deprivation was so heavy for us that we were not even ready to stand up for our cause. Let’s go to the wall that I have to write. Once upon a time, Mr. Pirirani and Dehghan excitedly read about the bravery of Iranian athletes for the domestic audience in sports news, but Iranian sports officials swore in the corridors of the World Federation: By God, if we are looking for political work! Our athlete was sick!

So easily we promoted a negative thing like lying in the society and did not bring it upon ourselves. In Islamic traditions, lying is considered as the key to sins.

This time, however, something more strange happened. Our henna was no longer colored and even our lies were not bought. What was the solution? Let’s try not to hit the Israeli opponent! It happened that the humiliating cry of “Alireza’s rudeness” echoed in the hall. But here is the irony. With the defeat of the Israeli wrestler in the next stage, we clashed again in the losers group and had to resort to old medical documents. That is, as the old saying goes: we ate both the wood and the onion.

See the work of the day. We, who were supposed to proudly support the oppressed, courageously disgrace and embarrass the Israelis, where did we get from lying? Humble cry, cowardly defeat. It is not for nothing that Imam Hassan Askari (a.s.) says: “Forgery of the heads of the house and forgery of the keys of the lie.” All the filth is placed in a room, and the key to it is lies.

Alireza Karimi’s ship is a mirror of our current situation. We have no desire to support the oppressed, nor the honor of defeating the oppressor. We have no justification for public opinion and no courage to project our ideals. We wanted to pull the wick down quietly, but it was safe from the noisy screw wick.

And how bitter it is if our destiny is to be the same situation as the Commander of the Faithful Ali (AS) says: “The fruit of a lie is humiliation in this world and torment in the hereafter.”
May God make our end good. God willing
