Which school should we enroll our child in?
#Systemic thinking in school
These days, some families are busy choosing a school for their children. Some families have been in the process of selecting some special schools for several months.
Some time ago, a friend consulted about enrolling his child in a special school:
“The school that we have planned for my child has an annual tuition fee of 11 million tomans. My wife now works two jobs so that we can pay rent and living expenses. To pay school fees, I also have to find a second job. But they told me that I have to pay this tuition for my child to have a good future.”
I will share the tips that I told this friend with you. Maybe it will be useful for some friends.
– Your child needs parents more than a particular school. Instead of trying to find another job to send your child to a particular school, cut back on your work and expenses so you can spend more time with your child. This path will definitely make a better future for your child.
– I have taught students and teachers in (so-called) special schools for many years. Most of these schools apply the same wrong mental model that is in normal schools with more intensity and power. The result is that they do more damage to children. Creating competition to the point of obsession and anxiety, hating the teacher and lessons and school, “excessive academic pressure” and, as a result, “one-dimensional loading” of students, and “application of severe external controls” are part of the harms of such schools for children.
– Most special schools create the illusion of being “special” and “elite” in children. This problem makes the children consider themselves as separate taffeta and do not consider others as themselves or expect others to be at their service.
– These schools usually seek to homogenize students. As a result, usually people from the same social class and the same level of intelligence gather together in these schools. This problem causes students to have little knowledge of other sections of the society and in the future, they will not be able to communicate with others and will not be able to understand the society.
My suggestion for choosing a school is:
1- If a school has made an interview with the parents a condition for your child’s registration, never register in that school.
2- If a school promises you that your child will pass the gifted test or get a good rank in the entrance exam or will get excellent math scores, thank them for their efforts and look for a better place to enroll your child. A place where they look at your child like a human being and teach them the way of life.
3- If a school asks you for funds for extracurricular activities with academic subjects, never accept and do not tire your child with more lessons.
4- If possible, enroll your children in the nearest public school to your place of residence.
I wish all the children of our country a good learning experience.
PS: If you know someone who is making the decision to enroll their child in school, I suggest you send them this message.
