Interview experience with Cornell University
MFA/painting
Well, first let me say that I am waiting for the rejection letter to be sent to me these days ๐
Before this university, I had gone to 5 other interviews and they all had a very positive, warm and supportive atmosphere, their behavior model completely removes your stress in the first seconds and turns into laughter and ease, and they often ask the same questions, but Safe from this Cornell.
Well, Cornell University is very good and competitive, and that’s probably why his interview was like this.
I had already communicated with one of the professors and he supported me a lot and liked my work and encouraged me. After I received the email inviting me to the interview, the professor himself sent me a message and asked three general questions. He said that I recommend him for Be prepared for these three questions and I was fully prepared for the questions.
Don’t let your eyes see a bad day
On the day of the interview, I connected to my imagination with complete concentration and surroundings, and from the moment I started to introduce myself, my stress started to increase. Extremely cold and dry without even a smile and I felt that they were interviewing me by force. And they ask the questions as if with the intention of asking people. I don’t know why really!
The first question was to explain one of the portfolio tasks, which despite the stress, I was ready for this question. I was thrown out, it took me a few minutes to reconnect and this was the final blow because from then on I didn’t understand what I was saying anymore, I felt like they were throwing questions at me and hey, I’m drowning more and more ๐
The second question was to name a contemporary artist that you like and were influenced by, and I said Rene Magritte!!! Do you really think he is contemporary? I said yes, since it was late 1900, it is considered contemporary, and he said no, he died a long time ago!!
I got a technical blow here.
For the next questions, it was as if I had sunk into a bubble of dust and had been deformed, only the sentences would flow out of my mouth involuntarily and involuntarily!!
What do you think you can add to our community?
As an artist, what are your concerns and what topics do you want to work on?
How do you think contemporary art should be and how does your work relate to this?
Tell me about an activity you do that is not art but is related to art!
Why do you want to study this field now?
Why our university?
In general, unexpected things happen and the most important thing is to be prepared for possible questions, good sense and self-confidence. Of course, I didn’t know what was going on.
thanks
