In the first volume of “Hosseini’s Epic”, Martyr Morteza Motahari has listed the common mistakes in the narration of the events of Ashura, and below are 4 of the most important ones.
The first mistake: the peak of mourning for Imam Hussain (AS) is the first ten days of the month of Muharram, and it is known among speakers and eulogists that they dedicate each night to one of the martyrs of Karbala; For example, the third night is mourned for Hazrat Ruqayyah and the seventh night is mourned for Hazrat Ali Asghar (AS), and Tasua is dedicated to Hazrat Abbas (AS). This agreement between the preachers and the pulpits has caused some people to think that Hazrat Ruqiya was martyred on the third day of Muharram, and worst of all, they think that Hazrat Abul Fazl (AS) was martyred on the day of Tasua.
But the truth is that all the martyrs of Karbala were martyred on the day of Ashura, and Abol Fazl, Ali Akbar, and Ali Asghar were all killed before Imam Hussain (a.s.) and on the day of Ashura in the battle with Umar Saad’s army. Hazrat Ruqayyah (pbuh) also passed away after her father’s martyrdom in Sham.
The second mistake: The general belief is that Hazrat Hussain bin Ali (a.s.) and his Ahl al-Bayt and his companions did not drink water for three days and nights, and then they went to confront the enemy, thirsty. But the truth is that Umar Saad sent Amr bin Hajjaj with five hundred horsemen three days before Ashura to come down next to Sharia and put a distance between Husayn’s companions and Ab. But this does not mean that there was no water storage in the tents.
In the book of guidance written by Sheikh Mofid (RA), it is stated: “On the night of Ashura, Zainab put her hands on her neck and fell unconscious on the ground.” Hussein (a.s.) stood up and sprinkled water on his sister. This authentic narration shows that there was still water in the tents until the night of Ashura, and the reason for Kami’s thirst is related to the day of Ashura, the heat of the air, and the intensity of the fight.
Sheikh Abbas Qomi (may Allah be pleased with him) says in Mantahi al-Amal: “On the night of Ashura, Imam Husayn (a.s.) sent Hazrat Ali Akbar (a.s.) with 30 horsemen and 20 footmen to bring some water musk and he told his Ahl al-Bayt and companions that from Drink this water, it’s all yours and make ablution and bathe.”
The third mistake: One of the most famous distortions is the story of Hazrat Layli, the mother of Hazrat Ali Akbar (AS), and how many verses are not recited in this context; In the shrines, it is mentioned that what Hazrat Ali Akbar whispered to his mother before going to the field, or that Hazrat Lili went to the tents and prayed there that God would bring Ali Akbar back safely, which unfortunately is the focus of some ta’zih. has also been
But the truth is that there was no night in Karbala at all; Of course, Lily is the mother of Hazrat Ali Akbar (AS); But not even one historian testifies to his presence in Karbala and on the day of Ashura.
The fourth mistake: The next article related to Hazrat Ali Akbar (AS) is that he asked his father for leave before going to war, and he did not give permission, and for example, he said that you are still young and it is a pity to lose him. And what poems and prayers we have not written around it; But the truth is that all the historians have written that whoever asked Imam Hussain (a.s.) for permission, if possible, he would have given them an excuse, but in the case of Ali Akbar, they said: “Fasta’zn Abah, Fazn Leh” means until permission is given. He wanted to go.
