Muhammad Ali Shah, like most of the Qajar kings, shows himself as a believer in Islamic religion and beliefs.

He appointed a number of clerics in his court and used them against militant and constitutionalist clerics. He especially believed in one of Tehran’s scholars named Mirza Abu Talib Zanjani, and he made his decisions such as dismissing and installing ministers and suppressing the opposition based on the answers that Mirza Abu Talib gave him after Istikhara.
Mohammad Ali Shah writes a letter to Mirza Abu Talib Zanjani and asks him to discuss the matter of shooting the Majlis. Mirza Abu Talib replied that the answer of Istikhara is good and the king’s victory will be certain.

When Mohammad Ali Shah was preparing to attack and destroy the parliament, telegrams from different states had arrived in cooperation with the constitutionalists. Mohammad Ali Shah got angry and said these words: The nation is wrong, it does not want us. The subjects either by rebelliousness, the subjects by the conclusion of the author of the Qur’an, the subjects by the cry of entitlement! Rait is wrong, he doesn’t want us! Subjects are sheep and we are shepherds!

It is our shadow that gives peace, gives blessings and repels evil! We are the ones who give honor, we are the owners of Iran! Blood is the answer to freedom! The subject is wrong to protest, it is wrong to ask for a constitution, the subject is wrong to condemn us, who are the adornment of the country! We have ordered the Kazakhs not to spare anyone who disobeys, and to skin anyone who shouts for constitutionalism and stuff them with straw! We want low-income subjects, we want yes-sacrificing subjects, we want deaf and blind subjects.

In July 1287, Mohammad Ali Shah, by the forces of the Russian Cossack brigade under the command of Colonel Vladimir Liakhov, closed the parliament with cannons, and after that, a period called “minor tyranny” began in the country. A year later, with the conquest of Tehran by the constitutionalists, he was dethroned and forced to leave Iran.
