Postdoc admission experience

Greetings and respect
I am currently doing a postdoc course at the University of Geneva (Switzerland) and I have been in Iran (PhD in nanochemistry from Tehran University, MSc in organic chemistry and BA in pure chemistry from Kashan University) and about twenty ISI articles with an impact of 1 6 and five ISI articles with an impact of 8 to 12, about half of which are my first name.
To be honest, I didn’t spend much time to get a position because during my doctoral course I was on a study opportunity at the University of Geneva for 9 months. During the course, I was in that group and my research resume was decided to choose me. As soon as I finished the course and returned to Iran, I defended my doctoral thesis and after about three months, I started my work in the same group as a postdoc. .
But my experience in the field of a large number of friends who managed to get admission is that although passing the opportunity can be very helpful for getting a postdoc, it is not the case that without passing this course you have no chance, but a large number of friends They have found a position without passing the opportunity, and on the other hand, more than 90% of the friends who were abroad for the opportunity period, unfortunately returned to Iran without finding a postdoc.
In my opinion, if you do a project with an international group and have an article with professors who have an address other than Iran, you can cover this gap to a great extent. Also, your academic resume and work background can be much more effective than passing an opportunity course. In my opinion and according to the experience I have had during this time, for professors (at least in Europe), the quality of articles has a much greater impact than the number. So that in several cases, I have seen that professors preferred people who had one or two top articles (in terms of publications and impact factor) over someone who had 10 or 20 ordinary articles for a postdoc position. Therefore, if you are still doing research and you don’t have the possibility to go to the opportunity, be sure to pay attention to these two points: 1- Finding a professor for international cooperation (it is easy to find by emailing, for example, to do analysis Or.) 2- Focus on printing higher quality articles instead of more quantity.
Also, avoid sending general emails to different professors, try to take your time and choose professors who are experts in their field of activity, and after that, set up a specific email for that professor and even mention in the letter in which field specifically Do you have expertise in that field, and if you have an idea in that field, say it very briefly and generally. Be sure that with this path, even if you don’t have a very good resume, your chances of getting a position will be much higher.
I hope we will hear good news from each and every friend soon.
