Qatar’s blue vision until 2030
In order to overcome the problems of water shortage and also to face the challenges of lack of fresh water, Qatar has implemented the mega water health preservation reservoirs project.
The initial plan of this project, which was proposed in 2015, reached the testing period of operational stages in 2018, and due to the strategic importance of water today, its final launch coincided with Qatar National Day. This will be a turning point in the history of Qatar; Because the main focus of the mentioned project is on meeting the needs of drinking water and maintaining water health during the years of crisis and emergency situations, and this goal is completely consistent with the vision of 2030 Qatar National Day. On the other hand, the implementation of this project and the launch of the largest desalination tank in the world shows the attention and importance of the responsible authorities to the national security of Qatar.
The Mega Reservoir project is similar to the dams built to collect rainwater and rivers that are built to store water for times of need in many countries, and its main goal is to increase Qatar’s strategic water reserves by 2026. For this purpose, in the implementation of this plan, unique tanks in type and design have been used, and each project includes 24 tanks with a total capacity of two thousand and 300 million gallons of water, which includes the installation of pipelines 650 kilometers long to connect all devices. The water softener goes to five points from the main tank. Each of the constructed concrete tanks has a capacity of 100 million gallons and is considered the largest in the world, and each site includes an extensive pumping station and the necessary infrastructure to support its operation.
This project provides power plants with the possibility of repairing and renovating power plants, and by saving a large amount of water, it provides enough time for their operations. Since in the past the supply of water required for water softeners and water distribution with the help of electricity was under the pressure of water shortage, this problem is completely solved with the existence of such tanks. | Today’s geography channel
