I congratulate the noble nation of Iran and the dear people of Gilan on the opening of the Qazvin-Rasht railway project.

This project is located in the north-south corridor and on the route connecting Iran to Europe through Azerbaijan and also on the route connecting Bandar-Nazli to the country’s rail network. Therefore, it is considered one of the important links to complete the North-South rail corridor and develop the possibility of rail transit in the country, which was continuously pursued by other countries located in this corridor and its beneficiaries. Of course, until the complete completion of the network, combined transportation can be very helpful in implementing the idea of ​​door-to-door transportation. Nevertheless, we must note that the utilization of the capacity of this line depends on the increase of the capacity of the Qazvin-Tehran section, which fortunately, Qazvin-Karaj double-lane and Karaj-Tehran four-lane were going through their final stages. I am not aware of the latest situation.

Also, it is insufficient to just develop the network. Besides this, the development and modernization of the cargo and passenger fleet should be on the agenda, which requires heavy investments. I am sure that the colleagues have not forgotten and the friends of the railway company will take the necessary measures with the help of the private sector as far as the country’s facilities and international financial relations allow.

The implementation of this project, considering that the line passes through mountainous areas and wide rivers and also passes over the Qazvin-Rasht freeway, was a difficult task, which with the help of hardworking managers, and all engineers, technical, administrative and logistic agents and hardworking workers in the implementing agencies, Consultants, supervisors and contractors and local authorities and institutions were done.

Out of respect for rail passengers and also road passengers who see the structures of this project on the way, attention was paid to the architectural beauty of bridges and structures in this project. I hope that the issue of road architecture, which I emphasized in various projects during this period, will be included in the agenda of the government and the university.

The passenger efficiency of this railway increases with its extension to Rasht’s Gil Square and then to Bandar Anzali, Astara and other cities located on the route. without taking the stations inside the cities and paying attention to the concept of moving the passenger from the starting point to reach the destination; So-called door-to-door rail transport, the passenger sector is not much appreciated by the people. Fortunately, the location of the next station in Shahr-Rasht has been chosen, at the location of Gil Square, the design route and approvals have been obtained. Of course, it is very expensive, but hopefully it will not be forgotten. Economic exploitation and the continuation of the project up to Astara and Bandar Anzali require unhindered trade relations with the world and international financing. It should be seen where the agreements made in this environment of fatf discussions will lead.

In any case, I would like to say to my dear colleagues and all those who participated in the implementation of this project that Merizad’s hand.
