Rejected articles that ended up in Nobel Prizes!
Reputable journals such as Science, Physical Review, Nature and They have made a big mistake in recognizing very profound articles that created a huge revolution in science.
1- Enrico Fermi’s paper describing the weak interaction in beta decay (one of the four fundamental forces of nature) was rejected by Nature in 1933. Fermi received the 1938 Nobel Prize in Physics for this outstanding paper.
2- Hans Krebs’ article entitled the role of the citric acid cycle in the metabolism of animal tissues, which led to the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1953, due to the large number of articles sent to the journal Nature in 1937, was suggested by the editor of the journal to be published after 8 weeks. . But Krebs did not wait and published his article in the German journal Ezymologia.
3- The article of the genius physicist Murray Golman on the classification of fundamental particles and their interactions was rejected by Physical Review magazine in 1953. Golman always hates this journal. Goleman received the Nobel Prize in 1969 for this article.
4- Richard Ernst’s article describing nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), which led to the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1991, was rejected twice by the journal of physical chemistry.
5- The original paper of Peter Higgs, describing the mechanism related to the spontaneous breaking of symmetry known as the Higgs mechanism, was rejected by the Physics Letter magazine, the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Peter Higgs.
6- Kerry Mullis’s article about polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was rejected by Science magazine! He received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1993 and created a huge revolution in the field of molecular biology
Other cases such as the discovery of pseudo-crystals and the invention of the radioimmunoassay (RIA) method, which led to the 2011 Chemistry and 1977 Medicine Nobel Prizes, respectively, were articles that were rejected by prestigious journals.
