Responsibility in the technical center
Yesterday (24/5/2018) in the first session of the 15th session of the Supreme Council of Graduate Engineers Association of Technical Faculty of Tehran University, the board of the council was elected as follows:
President: Dr. Abbas Akhundi
First Vice President: Dr. Mohammad Kamrahei
Second Vice President: Engineer Habibullah Bitraf
Secretary: Engineer Zainab Hajihosseini
Undoubtedly, the center of technical graduates is the oldest and largest engineering center of Iran’s public organization with more than eleven thousand members in different parts of the world. As the first modern engineering school in Iran, the graduates of the Technical College have played a leading role in the modernization and development of Iran at the international level. Of course, this role is not limited to the field of engineering, but is also evident in the field of politics, social, cultural and economic activities. Therefore, the graduates of this faculty have always been proud to be educated in this school and wherever they are in the world, they will never forget the days when they were students in the benches of this faculty.
Working in this center is both a source of pride and has its own challenges. The existence of engineers from different generations with ages over 90 years to 22 years old causes diversity of educational and professional life experiences, approaches and expectations. This diversity is both a great asset and has the potential for internal conflicts. It is wealth, provided that it leads to intergenerational dialogue. It is a source of conflict if there is no dialogue. This is the challenge that the Supreme Council is facing and I hope that we can use all its wealth-creating capacities and manage possible conflicts. In any case, the center should be among the leading institutions in understanding the current situation, technological developments and creative approach towards creating opportunities for the role of the new generation.
In yesterday’s meeting, there were constructive preliminary discussions about the council’s strategy in this period and the previous activities carried out in this regard. Among other things, attention to the two ideals of advancing engineering and national development of Iran, along with the development of communication and bonding within the large family of technical graduates, was emphasized. The ideals of the center, which are very well set, are as follows:
1. The general center of Tehran University technical school graduates and the center of communication and connection between them by providing the most appropriate scientific, cultural and welfare programs for members and their families and providing material and spiritual support to the technical school, as the most effective support institution for the school and its graduates in Be known by the community.
2, a reliable and pioneering pillar of the promotion of the engineering profession and the development of engineering systems and organizations in the country.
3. An expert, progressive and effective institution, and one of the prominent decision-making elements in the process of flourishing industry, economy and sustainable development of the country in such a way that it has a special reputation as a progressive representative of the engineering community in the view of public opinion.
I hope that the Association of Technical Graduates, with the help of all its members, as a civil institution independent of power, can play a role worthy of the dignity of the technical faculty in the national development and improvement of Iranian engineering.
