Selection of the results and analysis of the 95th census

Excerpt of the results and analysis of the 95th census

The total population of the country reached 79,926,270 in 1395, which has increased by nearly 4,776,000 compared to 1390.

The number of Iranian households has reached 24 million 196 thousand 35 in 1395, which has increased by 3 million compared to 1390.

The urban population has reached 74% with an increase of 6.2% and the rural population has decreased to 9.25%.

The size of the household (average number of family members) has decreased from 5.3 to 3.3. But more important than this reduction is the reduction of the size of the rural household from 3.7 to 3.4. At no later time did the rural household decrease to such an extent, and the urban household did not come close to it.

The average population growth rate has decreased again and has reached from 29.1 to 24.1 percent. This is while the growth rate of the rural population has become more negative and has reached -0.73, and the growth rate of the urban population has been 97.1 percent.

The population of 15-29 years has decreased by 4.6% and the population of 30-64 years has increased by 5.5%. Also, the average age of the population has increased from 8.29 years to 1.31 years.

The number of single person households has reached 5.8%, a growth of 20% compared to 1.7% in 2019.

Migration from villages to cities has accelerated and the results of marginalization and other consequences of this migration will affect cities more.

On the other hand, large areas of the country are being depopulated, some of these areas are located near the borders of the country. This trend both increases the cost of maintaining the security of our vast country and destroys the investments made in those areas.

The change in lifestyle is evident in the villages. Villagers don’t want more children, either because of livelihood constraints or because they don’t need children to help them in agriculture and animal husbandry.

The population is getting older. The average age of the country has exceeded 30 years for the first time, and Iran’s population has entered its fourth decade.

The Iranian household is getting smaller. Meanwhile, the obvious increase in the number of single-person households indicates the problems of forming a family or changing the lifestyle.
