Seven ways to create entrepreneurship in organizations
We started to define the illegal ways of entrepreneurship based on Schulhammer’s research and examined two models, traditional research and development and temporary business teams. Other methods include:
New departments or groups of business
Some companies have developed the concept of business teams and started to create a department called new business unit. In this case, the goal of the desired sector is to achieve remarkable innovations and create completely new markets. Of course, from a theoretical point of view, the separation of this department from other departments of the company is done with the aim of withdrawing from the traditional hypotheses governing the company’s usual operations, including the domain of customers, products, distribution, costs, technology and competitors. Although in this case, the type of innovations that result usually shows the basic capabilities of the companies, but it is mainly focused on the things that put a new strategic direction in front of the managers. In fact, the condition for investigating new market opportunities is that they have significant capabilities. Producing new products and services that will later be supported by operational units is one of the biggest challenges that new business units face. Because forcing the current units to accept new responsibilities or adapt themselves to activities that they do not play any role in its implementation is accompanied by many difficulties.
Innovation pioneers and employees
One of the salient points of this research is that in the field of organizational entrepreneurship, it focuses on the ordinary employees of the company as the source of entrepreneurial ideas. That is, entrepreneurship can be formed from the heart of any person, level or organizational unit. Because each employee is able to identify opportunities and develop creative concepts to try to sell them to top managers. In this way, employees often get the necessary resources by relying on informal networks, exchange of cooperation and carrying out most of the activities in secret or at least without obtaining official approval and support for the desired idea. In fact, many of these ideas are rejected many times by managers, but successful entrepreneurs save creative concepts from destruction by changing them to the desired format of management. In short, he wants to say; Innovation is the duty of all members, including employees.
Acquisition of ownership
In some companies, entrepreneurial growth is achieved through acquiring ownership or buying companies. Sintas company, a creative producer of workplace clothes, can be considered as one of the oldest examples in this field. The managers of this company can become the main player in this industry by adopting an aggressive strategy regarding the acquisition of ownership. The important point is the strategic fit between the purchases made with the company’s basic capabilities or the acquisition of skills, technologies and customers that complete the company’s strategic direction. Of course, the main challenge for Sintas, as an inherently entrepreneurial company, was the institutionalization of values and culture within each of the purchased companies, which should be paid attention to. In short, the saw says; By buying the products, markets and technologies of other companies, we can make their growth our own.
