The brain drain disaster has damaged Iran’s economy 300 times as much as the imposed war

1. In August 1344, the results of the migration survey conducted by the United Nations showed Iran in the bottom five countries of the table in terms of the migration of nationals to other countries (close to zero).

2⃣ This study was republished ten years later in 1354, which did not show any change in Iran’s rank and the immigration of Iranians was close to zero.

3. From these statistics, it appears that Iranians had no desire to immigrate to other countries.

4⃣ But these figures have changed in an incredible way. Iran is no longer at the bottom of the table and on the contrary has reached the top of the table. Iranians are the third people in the world who seek to immigrate.

5⃣ Among the nationals of different countries, Iranians have the most applicants to immigrate to Australia, and tens of people lose their lives every year in this way.

6. Iran’s population has doubled, but the number of Iranian immigrants has reached nearly 7 million people, i.e. 140 times.

7⃣ In the meantime, the amount of elites leaving the country is also worth considering. According to the statistics of the International Monetary Fund, Iran has taken the first place among 91 countries in the world in terms of brain drain.

8. Up to 180,000 people with higher education emigrate from Iran every year.

9⃣ The National Foundation of Iranian Elites announced that 308 Olympiad medalists and 350 national exam winners have migrated abroad from 2002 to 2006.

Also, the weekly newspaper of the Organization of Management and Planning has written that 90 of the 125 students who have been ranked in the World Olympiads in the last three years are now studying in American universities.

According to the International Monetary Fund, there are currently more than 250,000 Iranian engineers and doctors in America. According to the official statistics of the Passport Office, in 2007, 15 senior experts, 4 PhDs, and 5475 bachelors emigrated from the country every day.

In 2011, about 150,000 students requested to leave the country, most of them were doctoral students. Also, 64% of Iranian Olympiad medalist students have emigrated from Iran in the last 14 years.

3.1 Hamid Gurai, head of Royan Jihad University Research Institute, also warned that Iran’s stem cell scientists are attracted to other parts of the world every day.

4. 1. Abbas Milani, the economic advisor of the European Union, says that the brain drain in the last few years has hurt Iran’s economy 300 times more than the Iran-Iraq war.
