In a letter to the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Crafts of Fars, the Director General of the Technical and Civil Affairs Office of Fars Governorate asked for the national registration of the historical context of Shiraz.

In a letter dated March 7, 1401, Amir Hossein Jamshidi wrote to Mohsen Nejad, Director General of Cultural Heritage of Fars Province:

The historical context of Shiraz, with an approximate area of 357 hectares, has about 12,000 plaques with different uses related to different historical periods, and among them, 410 works of national registration and about 2,500 plaques are valuable.

One of the unique values of the historical context of Shiraz is the three categories of residence, subsistence and pilgrimage.

In addition to the existence of historical works and monuments in this area, this historical context has been the residence of great people such as Hafez, Saadi, Mulla Sadra and hundreds of great cultural figures and is unique in this respect.

The unique architectural elements of Shiraz houses, such as gates, special type of central courtyard and organization of spaces, as well as decorations specific to Shiraz style, are among the characteristics of this historical area, and special urban spaces, such as neighborhood centers, as well as governmental urban spaces of the Zandiyeh period, are among the characteristics of this historical city. which distinguishes it from other historical cities of the country, but unfortunately, this valuable fabric has been subject to illegal and sometimes incompatible legal interventions in the past years.

Also, the compact and organic texture of its cities and unique houses distinguishes this city from other cities in hot and dry regions of Iran.

Considering the above-mentioned special features, the concern of the culture-loving citizens of Shiraz, professors specializing in urban architecture and cultural heritage, and in order to preserve this valuable fabric as best as possible, it is necessary to order that the necessary follow-ups for the national registration of this area be carried out as soon as possible and from Inform the governor of the result.

It should be mentioned that this governorate declares its readiness for any cooperation in this field. Parts of the historical fabric of Shiraz have been destroyed in the past years with the implementation of Shahcheragh development plan.
