The main problem with this year’s admissions is not the corona virus, the national and open universities, degrees, and being male or female.
The problem this year was the rise of our expectations.
We used to see that 4 people got a complete master fund in the past years (seemingly complete, generally when IBeast comes, there are expenses that should have been paid)
We used to say to ourselves, “Oh, what’s good about giving money and giving funds, etc.?” If we didn’t see that out of 20 people, 4 of them could. Why? Because by chance, a university that had a budget that year wanted an international student, and that person’s resume was exactly what that university wanted. These same people may have been rejected from somewhere or accepted from somewhere without any funds.
But we did not see that there were 16 people who did not have this chance and were left empty-handed. It has nothing to do with Corona etc.
We thought that now they will let all of us Iranians make our halva on their heads.
This year, I got their highest scholarship from some places, I got a TA from some places that was rejected or without funds, and they explained to me that you were not enough, it had nothing to do with Corona and so on. Well, I wasn’t enough, it’s logical, I wasn’t supposed to be good for everyone.
I want to say that this will happen to next year’s kids as well. Also, next year, choose a few places with your eyes open, from different ranks. Of course, in America, the rank is not really important. Prepare yourself for all kinds of answers and lower your expectations.
