The ten recommendations of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) to the citizens of the world
UNEP believes that each of the seven billion citizens living on Earth can take effective steps to protect it.
1- Each person should eat a vegetarian diet one day a week and not eat meat.
Following this recommendation, after one year, the reduction of greenhouse gas production by each person is almost equal to not taking the car out of the house for a month.
Now imagine if all seven billion people followed this advice. How much greenhouse gas production will be reduced?
2- Anyone who prepares their travel tickets electronically and does not receive a paper ticket.
This action is effective in reducing the amount of paper consumption, cutting trees and other costs.
3- Leaky water pipes should be repaired and improved in order to prevent water wastage.
If only one leaky water pipe is repaired and improved, the waste of 40,000 liters of available water can be avoided annually.
4- Energy-saving lamps should be replaced by regular lamps.
Replacing a normal or filament lamp with a low consumption lamp will save 75% of electricity consumption.
5- No one should throw away old electronic devices and tools and treat them as waste, but recycle these devices and use their parts.
6- Some household activities are carried out through the Internet, telephone and other electronic and communication devices, and to avoid unnecessary traffic (especially by private car) to do some work.
7- Use thermoses and permanent bottles instead of disposable plastic bottles for water consumption.
8- Glass and aluminum should be separated from other waste and delivered to recycling centers.
9- Every citizen should go to work by bicycle if possible and in a suitable context.
If someone goes to work by bicycle, he rids the earth of 250 grams of carbon per kilometer.
10- Anyone should try to eat food at home
and do not use disposable plastic containers.
By following this advice, in addition to reducing the production of plastic waste, 260 species of animals will also be saved from the risk of death caused by eating plastic waste and getting stuck in it.
