What is rubber?
Cao Cho
Rubber caoutchouc is one of the most essential materials in modern life. Due to its extraordinary elasticity, caoutchouc is used to make all kinds of products, including hospital supplies, household appliances, and toys.
This material also has many uses in industry. Rubber existed when plants appeared on earth. Some fossils of rubber producing plants are three million years old.
During World War II, caoutchouc or synthetic rubber was produced on an industrial scale for the first time
Cauchovaz is taken from certain plants. In fact, there are more than 400 types of plants from which various amounts of rubber can be obtained. Most of the world’s natural rubber is produced by the Hua brasiliensis tree. This tree, whose length reaches more than 35 meters, is native to Brazil. Currently, the world’s largest sources of natural rubber are located in “Malaya” located in Southeast Asia.
To prepare rubber, they first make a crack in the trunk of the tree and then collect the white sap that comes out of the crack. After it hardens and dries, this sap is made into sheets, thus raw rubber sheets are prepared for export to other countries. It is interesting to know that raw rubber is a loose and sticky material and does not have much elasticity. Strength and elasticity are increased by adding sulfur. This work is called “vulcanization”. After the vulcanization process, fillers (usually carbon black) are added to the rubber to further increase its elasticity and strength. After these steps, rubber becomes a material with high elasticity and is used. Of course, this method is very expensive to produce rubber.

During World War II, synthetic rubber caoutchouc was produced on an industrial scale for the first time. Since then, many advances have been made in the field of synthetic rubber manufacturing and the quality of products has increased greatly. Synthetic rubber is more resistant to chemicals, oil, and heat than natural rubber. For this reason, it is more used in industries, especially aircraft manufacturing. Since the mid-1960s, the production rate of synthetic rubber has exceeded that of natural rubber.
