Where is the point of our awakening?

Where is the point of our awakening?

“Ahmad Kaya” is a kind communist and a noble internationalist! Türkiye’s most famous political singer lived only forty-three years.
Only fifteen years he could read,
He released twenty-seven best-selling albums, and only one of them sold one and a half million pages.

He had no problem with himself and his identity until two years before his death
He was a Turkish singer, he was famous and popular, he was loved and lived in luxury.
But one night, two years before his death, he announced at a big official party that he had also performed a Kurdish song that would be published in his next album.

Suddenly, the lovers and worshipers who were present at the party in his honor attacked him, insulted him, insulted him, threatened him with death and cursed him.

The stunned “Ahmed Kaya” became a different person from that night on.
Before that night, he had only said once or twice out of indifference and habit that his father was a Kurd and not a Turk.

It didn’t matter to him.
He was an active and committed socialist.
It didn’t matter to him what his ethnicity, race or nationality was
Everywhere in the world was his homeland.
But that night, his life was divided into two parts: the past forty-one years and the remaining two years until death.
He was already a Kurd, even though he didn’t know how to speak even one correct and perfect Kurdish sentence!

In the deepest recesses of his existence, he found an unknown point where the meaning of his life changed.

I call that point the “awakening point”.

After that night, “Ahmad Kaya” suffered many persecutions, complaints, hatred and enmity.
He was imprisoned for a while.
He went to France.
He was sentenced to ten years in prison in absentia.

In those two years of displacement, he learned Kurdish again and sang in Kurdish while crying from joy and longing in all the concerts of his exile. But he only had two years
And one night his heart stopped beating.

Some still say he was assassinated.
Some people say that he died of natural causes.

But for this note, not “Ahmed Kaya”, no
The cause of awakening is not the rightness or wrongness of his choice.

“Ahmed Kaya” is just an excuse for this note.

The discovery of that point, the “point of awakening”, may happen to any human being.

The point where, sometimes just by chance, a person suddenly wakes up from a deep sleep,
He leaves all his previous life,
throws it away
He turns his back on all honors or what he has achieved.
He accepts dishonor and starts another life

An old fighter who suddenly sees his fight as a mistake,
A man or a woman who suddenly leaves another life together in vain,
An employee or professional who suddenly feels empty and can no longer return to work.
An agent who suddenly realizes that he has served the tyrant for years.
A searcher who suddenly realizes that he has been fond of an illusion for years.

“Wake-up point” is not only for people.

Nations may also discover it by chance or after years and centuries of habit.
What blood of hearts and sufferings and neglects and failures that must be eaten and drawn and committed and tasted until in a moment of history, in a moment of time, in the blink of an eye, as much as all of life, it became aware, understood and stood up. ,
The power and courage to change was found.
He took a step and accepted any fate
But he did not return to his previous position.
